    Ther cylinder bolt that was cleaned is on the same side of case as the flywheel. Ignition coil does not have a ground wire attached, it is grounded by the two mounting screws. The kill switch wire is attached to rear of coil by spade connection and the only other wire is ,of course, the plug...

    Come daylight I will check the flywheel magnets. Looking at the flywheel, I removed and cleaned the bolt at right rear of cylinder, easiest one to get to, also checked the other 3 to make sure they were snug. The threaded hole for spark plug is clean and should make good ground.

    Cantdog Tried your suggestion on ground, remove cyl bolt, clean and reinstall. Reset aig gap on coil and spark plug. Still no spark. Next step is to buy a new ignition coil and hope for the best.

    The saw just stopped running. The mounting location of coil was cleaned and sand papered. Will try your suggestion on the case bolts, sounds like you are on the right track. Thanks

    country dude Air gap of .3mm is the same as .012 inches.

    The replacement coils are Ducati brand with attached spark plug wire. The air gap was set at .30 on all replacements and the kill switch is functioning as it should. Coil is grounded to engine case through two mounting screws. The last coil showed a reading of 6.79 on om meter after the saw...

    The saw is like new and has been very dependable until the current coil problems. Wiring is in like new condition. Coils were purchased from local dealers . Never checked if OEM or after market.

    The ignition coil has been replaced 4 times since last spring. Saw is used only to cut firewood. The saw was purchased new about 15 years back, middle 1990's. Coil number 4 lasted about 30 minutes. Muffler clean. I'm at my wits end. Help!!
