    Parts for an 038av Stihl

Howdy fellas, been awhile since I was last on here. I've got an old 038 that has a broken av mount and it's right next to the fuel tank. Looks like the casting is broke and egged out pretty bad. Are there any replacements other than plastic out there? This saw was made in West Germany. Curious...

    Picked up a used HT75

I found a good used HT75 on Craigslist for 300 bucks. So I went and took a look at it. It started kinda hard and ran, just not very good. I noticed the bar didn't have much oil on it when running. I thought I could get it working better once I got it home so I offered him $260 for it and said...

    Bad chain sharpening?!?!?!?!!

That's one of the reasons I bought my own chain sharpener. Not very many guys in town know how to run a sharpener. To do a good job you gotta be patient and take your time to do it right.

What's the "One Last.." Piece of Equipment you Needed Last?

The thing I could use most is more time. I farm with my old man and he's always coming up with more things to do between the so called busy season as everyone refers to it as. It seems like its always busy to me between doing the field work after harvest, putting in drainage tile, fixing...

    Catersplitter Build Thread

Nice build. You have a lot of time in this. It takes lots of time to fabricate and put everything together. Not to mention all the trips to town for parts and making everything fit together. Great work, I wish I had more time to build something like that. I'm in the process of building my own...

Using forklift parts to build a log splitter

I have an old Datsun forklift that I'm parting out and was thinking of using the hydraulic pump, spool valves and some of the cylinders to rebuild a splitter I got from my uncle for free. Its not much to start with but the cylinder might be alright. I'll have some pics of it on here soon. I've...

    Wood ID - Cherry ?

Now thinking it over more it could be honey locust too. If the wood is heavier than most than it's probably locust. I looked at some pics of the beech trees and they look a little different than yours do.

    Wood ID - Cherry ?

Looks like American Beech to me.

Changing a Jred 2050 from .325 to 3/8 chain. Is it possible?

Thanks for all the info fellas. Appreciate it. Yea the kit I bought is an 18" b&c with lo pro chain so I'd think it would work ok. So what did you do to mod the muffler? I can always use more ponies! ;)

Changing a Jred 2050 from .325 to 3/8 chain. Is it possible?

Ok thanks for the info. Yea I figured that but the main reason for switching is so that I can run a power sharp bar that I bought a while back. I couldn't find one that uses .325 pitch chain.

Changing a Jred 2050 from .325 to 3/8 chain. Is it possible?

I have a 2145 and a 2050 turbo I'm wanting to switch to 3/8 chain so I can use the same chain on other saws if I have to. I'll probably only switch out one saw. These are the only saws that I have that have this particular type chain. I've searched on here and have come up with no results. Maybe...

Helped a buddy cut some wood ( Pic heavy)

Looks like that works pretty d@%# good. He'll need to put some grapples on the bucket and then he'll really like it! A skid loader is real handy for this kinda thing. I use a backhoe with a grapple bucket and it works pretty good but the manuverability and visability isn't as good with the hoe...

OH_Varmntr's Creek Clearing Thread w/ Pics and Videos

If I had more free time and we lived closer I wouldn't mind helping either. I just simply enjoy being out there cutting things up. I got a little time to do a little cutting about a week ago and man that was sure a lot of fun. I hear ya on havin the safety gear! I got into my ankle a little with...

chimney fire or close to it ?

Well I haven't had that bad a chimney fire where flames are shooting out or tons of brown smoke is coming out like the vids. It did sound like a low rumble while it was going though so it must not have been that bad a fire.

chimney fire or close to it ?

I could see where that might work.

chimney fire or close to it ?

Really think so? As much as green wood smokes when first put on a bed of hot coals it seems to me that the smoke alone would choke out the chimney fire depriving it of oxygen and obviously a person would shut down all air down to the furnace or stove at this point. Of course you'd have to...

chimney fire or close to it ?

I'm like Spidey get it going good and hot, it'll clean things out fast for sure. The hottest I've had my double wall flue pipe is 750 and the front of the furnace was around 1100. The loading door is just barely glowing red with the lights off at that point. I've only had one chimney fire that I...
