If cutting against the lean or into the wind I do the back cut first, set a wedge then face it, if the tree is set back on the bar, take the power head off the bar ,get another bar and cut the tree down again above the pinched bar, most of the time the bar lives
Split about 3 cords with the axe head you sent ,is close to the Arvika in performance ,i like it as a go to when doing firewood. Have not found a big enough tree to pound wedges with it yet.
This sucks to hear ,rip Simon, i remember him telling me its not how much material you remove , it's where you remove it. Still have a 460 top end he did on a 440 , good work saw .
Just got it together ,have not tried pounding wedges yet ,it splits firewood real nice .has a little thicker blade section over the arvika so does not stick as bad doing firewood. Has a nice feel swinging it .
Reg chain is fine at 10 degrees , .063 oils better than
.050 if can get or have .063 i recommend it.for smoother boards don't get too aggressive on the rakers .025 is a good starting point
Finally got this head hung i got from multifaceted ,4.5 lb with a shape similar to the hb arvika ,got a link racing axe handle because the eye was larger like a racing axe uses ,the grip was pretty rough ,so i reshaped it for comfort.
That works pretty good ,Works good falling into the wind also ,or for going against 180 degrees the lean .
sorry my answer is not 3 pages long like Jamie's .;)
Works connection is same tach meter ,they make an aluminum bracket ,i bolted to factory hole on the 441, my 440 i bolted it to the ms440 tag on the hood ,does not get in the way so far in my use
