    Shop Re-Sharpened Chains vs. Factory

When I first started sharpening chain, with just a file and no training back in the 70's (on a XL923 Homelite) I remember how frustrated I'd get. Sometimes the saw wouldn't cut straight, or cut very well. I hated having to take the blades somewhere. And then, when I did it seemed like they...

    Request General advice on 372XP

I ran the 50 to one oil mix with the Amsoil Sabre. The plugs got really black, oily and the mufflers sooted up in both saws. The the 445 was hard to start and the idling dropped. Therefore since I use one mixture for two Echo weed eaters (one being a PS280), a lawn Boy commercial mower, and the...

    Request General advice on 372XP

I will try the 50 to one with the Amsoil and take your advice. Like I said, at the 80 to one ratio the plug was dark and wet/oily looking. If the muffler gets really wet with oil I will have to cut it back. I'll just test it and find out. Can't hurt nothing!

    Request General advice on 372XP

I really didn't want to start a thread about the oil but, I will listen to anyone as I'm no guru on saws. However this is my experience with two strokes. I worked for Suzuki and Kawasaki in the late 70's and early 80's at the shop level as a mech/service manager in Vallejo, CA. We sponsored a...

OK, I'll increase the oil ratio and as long as it's not too wet or loads up I'll use that. Amsoil claims 100 to 1 is fine and I've never had a failure in a two stroke but, WTH, oil is cheap when it comes to time and money! Thanks It has the decomp valve on top.

    Request General advice on 372XP

I just wanted some general advice on my 372 XP. I lost several chainsaws in a fire, the biggest being a 455. With the insurance money, and not needing multiple saws I replaced my 445 (which I really liked) and since I grew up with an Homelite XL923 24in bar, I wanted a "big saw" so, after...

Do stihls have more torque than husqvarna in general?

I have not been on here for a long time because I've been too busy replacing all the firewood I burnt this cold past winter but it would appear to me that a saw that reached it's peak torque and held it to a flat or mostly flat line as the rpm's increased would be easier to run than a saw that...

    new 372xp xtorq carb questions.

372xp starting This forum is so convenient and helpful. I just got a 372xp and a new 445 due to having to replace four saws that burnt up in a fire. The biggest ones I had before was a 455 and a 55, so I decided to get a pro-saw as I do a lot of cutting. I lost the 445 and after 50 tanks of...

    Saving Money with firewood heat

I suppose much depends on whether you own property or not. I'm fortunate to have grown up in PA. (Indiana County) where my Dad bought 90 acres, then to an almond region of CA, and now here to MO. So, since I have land, I got the ATV and other stuff. It's a good conservation practice to remove...

    Saving Money with firewood heat

geo thermal amp draw To answer the question on the amp draw for the geo thermal pumps, which is about 6000 watts when they start but not to keep them running. I have a 4000 watt generator, so when the power went out for 4 days due to an ice storm, I have it rigged up and the wife knows what to...

    Saving Money with firewood heat

addtional info I guess I should have said, because I've taken it for granted, that I have my own property to cut firewood on. Before we moved here, I lived in an almond growing area, so that wood was free except for me getting it, and when I got into this with my Dad, who was a Buckstove...

    Saving Money with firewood heat

I was wondering how much we were saving by burning wood in our new home, and I got a chance to find out. The stat are: about 3200 square feet, walk out basement, geo-thermal loop system, two FPX 36 fireplaces, 2X6 walls with blown-in insulation, on 17 foot vaulted ceiling, Pella windows (lots of...

    Clutch removal

Makers and clutch Fish: that's a really beautifulpart of the country and Bill Samuels is a really nice fellow and makes good stuff down there. As to the clutch removal tool, I agree with all of the above. I don't know how I did it or if it was wear and tare after 17 years of orchard use, but...

    Clutch removal

I realize most people do alot more work on saws than I do, but I stopped at Baily's in Woodland, CA. to get some stuff. (Maybe this will save some guys from ruining a flywheel.) One thing was a clutch removal tool for my 445. The fellow behind the counter, and like the other Baily's staff I've...

    Husqvarna 41 won't run again after re-fill

41 I have a 36, which I think is basically the same saw except the 41 is more powerful. Sometimes, after you say it ran with the choke on for a few seconds, I would close the choke, and hold the throttle wide open to see if it was flooded. If it won't start with the choke, without the choke, or...

    Husky 445 Oiler

added syn tranny fluid I followed one of the ideas on one of the threads: thin the bar oil with trans. fluid. The oil tank was about half full. I almost filled with syn. tranny fluid, then I tried it thourgh one of those 17 inch locust hernia makers. It did much better. Got to get back out there.

    Husky 445 Oiler

I'm taking a computer break from cutting so I figured I'd ask a question. I have a new 445 and have run about 30 or 40 tanks of gas in the saw. I'm cutting green cherry and locust. The blade is sharp and the saw cuts just fine. I enjoy running it. Got it from Baily's. The oiler is putting out...

    Killed my Dolmar :(

I'll give suggestions Here are some idea's: Could the vent to the fuel tank be hindered to reduce fuel to the carb creating a lean condition? If you had fuel that had ethanol (which is supposed to be only 10%) in it and it was more than 10 (which has happened) percent could this cause the saw...
