    Protect against liability

With respect to identifing tree location you can have a tree survey done. Your surveyor can show location of each tree on your plat. I had to have this done as part of the package I presented to the a zoning board to obtain a variance.

Tree root protection: alternate methods of contruction?

We have decided to use micro piles or have spans over the roots. Contractor will bring engineer to site so they can design foundation without roots being cuts.

Tree root protection: alternate methods of contruction?

All I know is what we did which was use my pressure washer low pressure to remove some of the excess dirt that had collected around the base of the tree and was somewhat compacted. That was due to erosion. Some of the smaller roots which were exposed were covered with hardwood mulch.

Tree root protection: alternate methods of contruction?

He also recommended to areate roots around the base of each tree out to about 5 or 6'. They used a rake and a garden hose. I suggested it might be better to use my pressure washer, pressure turned way down as a way to do it with less impact; so that's how I'm doing it.

Tree root protection: alternate methods of contruction?

Those tire marks in the photo are from wheel barrels. Any dirt that has need to be moved has been done with a wheel barrel. My Arborist also said to put down the mulch like you said. He will be bringing me some as soon as he has a truck load. We had planned on putting down mulch from oak...

Tree root protection: alternate methods of contruction?

Live Oak tree roots are about 15' and 20' from location of proposed perimeter foundation. Since trees are on the marsh there are no roots on that side of the tree. I'm very concerned that cutting roots in the photos will have very bad consequences down the road even if they are cut cleanly...

Poulan 3400 dies after 5 minutes

That's what I did last year when I fixed it. Problem seem to be solved. I adjusted the high speed screw which raise the rpm and now it seems to work fine. I can restart it when hot and it doesn't die when cutting.

    No it just stops.

Poulan 3400 dies after 5 minutes

Had this problem last year and installed new rings and that cured it. I've not used the saw much at all since I supposedly fixed it. But I did use it some after I fixed it and I didn't have the problem I'm having now. Not sure what's going on. Used fresh gas and saw cranked right up...

How do I measure diameter of tree with large cavity?

Setback depends on diameter of tree. For this tree it will probably be minimum of 12'. Garage will be 19' from base and less than 25% of root system would be impacted.

How do I measure diameter of tree with large cavity?

The setback is the minimum distance by which a building must be separated from the base of a tree. I would like to determine the setback required between the tree and a garage I plan to build. To do this I would like to detemine diameter. Ordinance does not provide information of a specific...

How do I measure diameter of tree with large cavity?

I don't know how to go about measuring it. Do I just put a tape around it which will include the hollow part? Or is there some other way to measure it to take into consideration the hollow part? I would like to know diameter to help me determine the setback.

How do I measure diameter of tree with large cavity?

I would like to get opinions on how to measure the diameter of a Live Oak with a cavity eliminating approxomately 30% of the trunk's mass. I know it is to be measured at DBH. Cambial growth is continuing to engulf the wound. There is petrified decay from the base continuing up to 15'...

    Saw storage opinions?

My saw is about 25 years old and all I do is drain the tank and run the saw to get gas out of carb.

    New piston rings?

John, I did not check the compression, prior or after. But when I say it was real hard to start before I meant nearly impossible. I did measure the new and old rings and the difference was very slight.

    New piston rings?

That's all I did. And it cured the 3 problems I mentioned above.

    poulan counter vibe 3400 Quality???

I don't know what you mean by small trimming work. But it occurred to me that the 3400 is to big and to heavy for small trimming work.

    New piston rings?

Is the saw real hard to start? Does it lose power during use when it gets hot? Does it practically die when it gets hot with use? I had the three symptoms above and new rings made my saw run like it was new.

    poulan counter vibe 3400 Quality???

I have a Poulan 3400 I bought new in 1980. I certainly don't use it everyday. I think a working 3400 is worth $40. Lots of parts are easy to come by, but if you broke any of the body part, what's painted green I think you'd have a hard time finding that. At worst you might have to...
