    Stacking firewood on guard rail

I stack my firewood via homemade metal racks and metals cages I grabbed from menards. It is just a hodge podge of a set up and I'm looking for something nicer. Tried pallets...plastic pallets too but was not much of a fan of them. I am looking at 12" wide guardrail in 26ft lengths...

    Can't grow carrots

I am not a pro gardener like some folks here. Living in Iowa I just till my ground, plant my seeds from packets in rows, water and keep the weed pressure down. For the last 3 to 4 years I can not get carrots to grow. Before that I would harvest 5 to 10 gal buckets worth. Nothing else in...

550xp: throttle return and sprocket spin

I have a couple of problems with my 550xp. I know one fix is probably easy but the other has me concerned. First the throttle does not return very easy so to get the saw to slow down I have to use my fingers to pull the trigger back out of the handle. Does the cable need some lube or is...

    canopy displays at menards

The canopy displays that sit on the ledge at the menards store are on clearance, ranging $20 to 75 in price. They would be perfect for stacking firewood under. My store is Fort dodge IA not sure if the other stores are doing this clearance.

    falling a tree..proper cut locations

Hello, I have a 30-36" elm that has died and I need to cut it down. The large silver maple and hackberry (both in the 36" dia range) that I have cut down before had a trunk that was more circular. This elm is like my scribble in the picture. Do I treat it differently then a circular trunk...

    Sold Homelite XL923

I saw a CL ad for a cheap 50lb can of 1/8 7018 welding rods. A small father/son heavy equipment outfit is selling out so they said look around. I did and came home with a complete red XL923 with 24" bar/chain plus a can of rods. Once I walked out I knew I shouldn't have bought the saw...

Not sure if this is the right spot but have a JD180 mower that dad had the transaxle rebuilt but didn't finish putting the thing back together. I have the electric clutch off and I'm ready to put the new drive belt on but have no idea how it goes. The web has not been much help unless I...

engine pump coupling and weld flanges

I have my 16hp BS engine off the mower to power my splitter. Unlike most mower shaft pulleys mine just slid off with the tap from a hammer. Could you put a keyed 5/8" sleeve in the bolt end of this pulley and connect directly to the pump from the engine instead of using a lovejoy? Too much...

    1988 chevy suburban...won't stay running

Hello, Purchased a former light blue school suburban with 79k and the motor is 350 TBI. Of course the test drive, the 90mile drive home and 3 or 4 trips to town it ran good. Idle did seem to be a bit high though. Then it rained one night and I could not get it to start in the morning...

Dad's 99 Tahoe spun a bearing so being a nice kid I told him I would help him put in a new engine. Finally get the crate motor in with tranny and hook up the transfer case. We put the crossmember where it should be and we are 2 1/4 inches or so short for the tranny mount to line up with the...
