    Pitch Question

The smaller the gauge, also means a narrower kerf, So less wood removed with a smaller saw means a faster cut. I just found some 3/8 low pro .43 gauge chain. that I'm trying out on my favorite carving saw. Also 1/4 pitch chain goes around a smaller radius/ a dime tip detail bar & has more...

    Prepping Birch for Burnishing/Carving?

If you replace the water, that dries out of the wood with oil, it will swell back up & not crack. I've set carvings in antifreeze & when they soak it up, & the cracks will close.

    Prepping Birch for Burnishing/Carving?

Those will probably crack when they dry, stick them some place warm & see. I've made candle holders before out of 3-4" dia. birch, cut 5" long, with a 3/4" hole drilled in one end for the candle. Add a few boughs of white pine or cedar. The other way to made one is take a 5' x 12' block of...

For warm air to circulate, without a fan you would need a cold air return vent near the floor.....

    .10 or .25 ?

Hi & welcome to AS Baileys has drums & sprockets for small Huskys. 1/4 pitch chain on a quarter tip bar is a great set up, & cuts smooth. I hardly use my dime tip, unless for really fine detail. 1/4 pitch chain cost a little more, but worth it in the long run.

    Bugs eating my logs! Help!!!

Pine Borers....Peel the bark off quick! They start out real small & only eat the inner bark. Then when they get big enough, they develop big chompers & start boring into the tree. They are hard to kill when that happens, but when they are under the bark & you peel it they fall out & die.
