    Bad crankcase seals?

Would do it stock, muffler modded either way. Wasnt happy with it, low on power too, but ran it on mill for a few months like that. Had no choice Cyl looks great, just wont tune normally and bogs way to easy. Try and make up a tester and do something with it oneday, dnt need it for work currently

    Bad crankcase seals?

Same saw different cyl. Other cyl was not ruined making it hard to tune. Ran well with very broad torque range. But everyone decided it was stuffed and wouldnt believe or read the whole question. This problem had been there for some time before and now a decent time after. Cant be cyl......

    Bad crankcase seals?

I set that up last time carb was apart, didnt make much if any difference. Have to set idle very rich to run, same setting on low screw would flood an 880 normally. Any leaner it wont run.

Why is my saw cutting crooked?

Virtually anytime ive had problems with not cutting straight has been the bar needed dressing

    Bad crankcase seals?

Saw in question is a ms880 mag. For awhile now has been odd to tune- 1/2-3/4 turn on low to get it to idle(1/4 turn normally) and then with high screwed in will still four stroke. Bogs/stalls chain in cut quite easy, lot less power than it should/had. A mate of my brother has had many dirtbikes...

Looking for project saw pics if you have em throw them up on this post!

Just have phone at the moment and dont think I can post pics. Working on a MS880 Magnum, hopfuly finished in a couple of days. Very mild port job, expansion chamber finishing 2-3" behind rear handle. Cylinder sanded to give .018-.020" quench and outside painted black. Plastic cylinder cover...

    Ebay Purchase

If you arnt comfortable to tune the carb in a saw you will have to learn. Not usually the low speed but the high will need tweaking quite regulary, changes in atmospheric pressures, temp ect. Just because a dealer tunes it wont make the tune stay for next five years, especially with different...

    need help selecting skip chains

Excuse my ignorance but what cc is that? 16 and 20" bars are pretty short to need skip. Generaly skip is only an advantage on longer bars.

110 octane racing gas in a work saw... What's your thoughts?

Well, the 880 owners manual says "use only high-quality brand-name gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 90 - leaded or unleaded" Unleaded only to be used with catalytic convertor. My 880 was bout new in june 2009. All working life has been on a mill cutting ironbarks, bloodwoods ect...

110 octane racing gas in a work saw... What's your thoughts?

Thats my main reason for looking at higher octane. With the pipe it should be running fairly high comp in the cut at full load. Wanted to make sure I have combo right before it goes in wood and gives trouble. Piston top has been sanded smooth and will be polished before assembly, works in 4...

110 octane racing gas in a work saw... What's your thoughts?

Thats what I figured. Being leaded it should lube it a little nicer than pump fuel too.

110 octane racing gas in a work saw... What's your thoughts?

IF Im correct in my reasoning that a pipe will give comp on a full stroke instead of from exh closing I will have dynamic comp of around 13:1. I picked up a 075 (i think) that had scored the piston. Freed the rings and smoothed it all out with wet n dry. Maybe I should find a fuel tank/starter...

110 octane racing gas in a work saw... What's your thoughts?

No, stock cyl. Measured comp from exhaust closing point and got close to 9.5:1. According to and old two stroke book that is about the most recommended with a good pipe. Might be able to go higher but being a work saw didnt want to push it too much. Stumbled on a two stroke forum where they...

110 octane racing gas in a work saw... What's your thoughts?

Found this thread after talking to one of the guys at local stihl shop about av gas. I am in the middle of building an expansion chamber for my worksaw 880 and think ill need higher octane to prevent detonation due to high cylinder pressures when it comes on the pipe. He told me that av gas will...
