    Stihl problems

Ok, here's the skinny on the two fuel lines.... One fuel line comes directly from the tank to the inlet on the carb. The second line is really the impulse hose. It comes off the bottom of the carb & onto a nipple at the back the crankcase, below the jug. It's pretty easy to replace with a...

Walkerizing--- Is it Really Worth it ?

John's got some video clips of a Walkerized Husky 372XP, at his web site. www.yukonjohn.ca I suppose that if performance is what you want, Walkerizing is the best way to go. Larry

    Which one??????????????

Have you tried the saw with the new sprocket yet? Did you need to replace the bar? Larry

    Which one??????????????

You didn't mention which Stihl model you had. I'm running an 044, 2 028 Supers & an 019T. None of them has ever displayed the symptoms you described. No problem cutting the small stuff, even with the biggest of my saws. Now to the tech stuff... You mentioned that the tech put a new chain...

    chainsaw decisions

I'm going to recommend the Stihl 026. If they still made it, I'd push for the 028 Super. Excellent saw. I'd really try to avoid the 029/ms290. Somebody had mentioned issue with bent crankshafts or something. It was mentioned that it's a 3 piece, pressed & welded, crank. The higher end...

    Chainsaws of the Future ?

I guess it's cool to dream every so often, so I'll have at it.... Hmmm... lightweight composite body (carbon fiber? Kevlar?), even lighter high strength internals & crankcase (titanium?), super hot ignition, super charger coming off the flywheel to the carb (no fuel injection as that needs a...

    Stihl saws

    Huskyman, Here's some rpm info, taken right out of the shop manuals, for some Stihls I own. Stihl 044, 70.7cc, max RPM 14000 (w/ bar & chain), 5.2bhp @ 9500rpm, 3.2lb.ft torque @ 6500rpm. Stihl 028 Super, 51.5cc, max RPM 13000 (w/ bar & chain), 3.4bhp @ 9000rpm, 2.14lb.ft @ 6500rpm...

    Need opinion

I'll throw in my two cents on this one... For the average homeowner who needs to do a little cleanup work or minimal firewood cutting, the sears saw would probably be adequate. Anything more that that would benefit from the purchase of a reputable name brand. Good luck & be safe, Larry

    file guides

I use a number of different sharpening tools. Stihl's round file holder/guide (which is a dead ringer for the Oregon equivalent), the Pferd Chain Sharp (aka Husqvarna Sharp Force) and the file-n-joint guide. The Chain Sharp is neat as it gets the tooth & depth guage at the same time. It holds...
