If you are in the tree business please remember to be careful

Last week there was a local guy in the process of removing some trees from around some electric lines. He was working for one of the bigger local tree services. Apparently he was climbing and somehow came in contact with one of the lines. He was burned over 80% of his body. Sadly, he passed...

    Redneck chainsaw techniques

That video should be called the worlds dumbest redneck. Sometimes I wonder how some people manage to keep themselves alive. I have to say it was kind of entertaining.

Thanks to all for making this a great forum

I haven't been around here that long, but I just wanted to say thanks to all on here for answering all questions and spreading a wealth of knowledge for all to learn from. It seems that the chainsaw forum is one of the most active groups I have ever seen. There are always a ton of new threads...

Do local dealers or internet reseller's offer Stihl chainsaw discounts?

I guess it pays to be loyal to a good dealer. Last year I bought a leftover 361 for $570. I bought my dad a new 362 for christmas for just over $380. No I am not making this up. We do a LOT of business through this dealer through work. I bought a new HT131 earlier this year for $100 off...

Is there something wrong with the calculator at Husqvarna?

Since I have a 435, I was curious as well. I checked the husky part numbers for the cylinder, carb, crank, etc. They are identical part #'s for the 435 and 440. I would go out on a limb and say they are the same engine. My 435 says on the saw 40.9cc. The box it came in said 40.9cc. I got...

    bought my first pole saw

I've used my new 131 about ten times this year, and all I can say is it is a great piece of equipment. It will cut anything you want. Like others have said, be careful about pinching it or a limb falling on it. Like you said, the replacement parts are not cheap.

What's your best ever "steal of a deal"?

Last year I bought myself a leftover Stihl 361 for $550 from the local dealer. I thought it was a fair price. My dad really liked the saw so I decided to get him one for christmas. No 361s left, only 362s. I got quoted a price of $600. Okay I told the dealer. I went to pick it up and he...

40-ish cc Saw Choice-----Spring C.A.D has set in

I am fairly impressed with my new husky 435. It isn't a pro saw, but for the price, it isn't bad. The overall build quality seems fairly decent. It doesn't compare to my stihl 361, but it isn't even close in price and useage class. I picked it up from Baileys with a $25 off coupon, so it...

Maybe I should change my mind on getting a pair of chaps?

I acquired a set of Stihl chaps over the winter and intend to start using them when the saw is running. I haven't had a close call YET, but you just never know. I figured now that I'm a dad, I need to be a little more cautious so I can enjoy my time with my little girl instead of hobbling...

    435 oil leak?

My 435 leaked a little oil after the first time I filled the tank. After running it a few times, it doesn't leak much if any now. My Stihl 361 has leaked a tiny bit since it was new as well. It could be just residual oil left over from the last time it was ran.

What chain to get with NEW 261

If you are ever on the east side of town, go to cutters choice. They sell laser brand chains made by carlton. I think they are like $13 a chain for an 18" chisel. I have had good luck with them. Around Erie, they are $3 or so cheaper per chain.

    Stihl heads.....and I am one....

I like my stihl 361 as much as I like my husky 335xpt. Heck, I even enjoy running my old mac 610 once in a while. It all comes down to the ford vs chevy debate. Which saw do YOU really like.

Question about bar and chain on husky 55

Thanks for the replies. The saw does have "air injection" on the side decal. The saw has run the 20" .325 for the last 12 or so years with no problems. Since this saw will be demoted to a back-up saw, I think it will be worth a shot trying 3/8 pitch. The main reason behind switching is to...

Question about bar and chain on husky 55

I was working on my dads old 55 and the bar and rim sprocket are beyond shot. The current setup is .325 pitch .058 gauge and 78 drive links. He got a new stihl 362 for christmas and that runs 3/8 pitch .050, 72 drive links. Will the 55 pull a 3/8 pitch chain? If I'm going to replace the bar...

Some observations on first time using new toys

Yeah, I guess I better start doing 16oz arm curls instead of 12oz!! Seriously though, you use muscles you didn't remember you had when holding that pole saw. It is worth it though. You can cut a lot of limbs in a very short period of time. A whole lot easier than the manual pole saw I have...

Some observations on first time using new toys

I finally got to use my new stihl 131 pole saw as well as my new husky 435 for some trimming/pruning over the weekend. Observation #1 about the 131, I'm out of shape!! That saw will cut whatever you can get it to with no problems. Cut some 8 inch oak limbs and it acted like it didn't even...
