    Chain in dirty wood

Semi-chisel holds it's edge marginally longer because the edge is fully supported and/or because the drop-off in performance is not so steep as the working "corner" gets dulled.  Maybe a comparison between alkaline and ni-cad batteries would be in order: as the cells lose their potential...

    Is This Logical?

In some respects much knowledge can be a curse.

Hahaha!  The pics and review exist elsewhere...

    Wire core flip lines

It's basically a Knut with a piece of tender wrapped around the lanyard and through the nooses.  It was all discussed in detail in another thread http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=16704 with this sketch posted there as well: http://arborist.************/attachment_16181.php...

Huh, I thought Gypo's skidder was yellow...

    Trimming

Come on guys, let it go.  Clearance is not saying it's okay to prune trees in general with spurs, but that it's okay to use spurs on occasion when the situation warrants it.

    Chainsaw Get Together

Thanks Mange, but I fetched them while I was off doing something else.&nbsp; They're very high quality images; it's too bad the subjects were in the shadows.&nbsp; It must have been too hot in the sun?&nbsp; <tt>:</tt>) Glen

    Chainsaw Get Together

The number of Internet users in the U.S. who do not use (for whatever reason; availability for the bulk of us, I'm sure) dialup just eased over the 50% mark not too long ago.&nbsp; Consider yourself very fortunate if you can do better than 56k. Glen

    Chainsaw Get Together

Of course, now that we can no longer edit our own property here on the site those large pictures will be a permanent part of history.

    Chainsaw Get Together

Well, there's a half hour's worth of downloading for me so far, and that's only 1/4 of the pictures...

    Trimming

Too technical?&nbsp; Nah, that's basic stuff.&nbsp; A URL contains <i>protocol</i>://<i>resource</i>.&nbsp; Without both basic components it's <i>not</i> a URL, by definition.&nbsp; I provided the <i>basic information</i> necessary to post a raw link or one with "pretty" captioning on this (and...

    Trimming

Clearance, you could move here and get a job with Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power.&nbsp; There will be plenty of clearance work in about 15-20 years what with the several hundred ash trees they just planted under/around the newly-relocated three-phase lines when they widened the highway...

    17 saws tonight...

Ha!&nbsp; Notice there's no Stihls in the boxes.&nbsp; They must be still cutting out in the woods, hahaha!

    028 vs. 039

The MS280 <i>is not</i> the successor to the 028, which has less displacement and greater weight than the 026 (028 AV, 028 AV type 2, 028 Woodboss) If the "small woodlot work" predominantly involves whole trees 18-24" diameter, I'd probably say the 039.&nbsp; If the work involves...

    Is This Logical?

I'd lived for several years in the Rocky Mountains of both northwestern Colorado and east-central Arizona (both locations at roughly 7000 ft elevation) and the high-altitude desert is interesting in its own right, but I moved to central Indiana (among many choices) for the <i>real...

    Stihl 026 runs weird

How do you know that they don't have a <i>killer</i> 261 ready for release? (just speculation on my part)
