The manual is pretty much what I did; just couldn’t get it. Eventually I stretched the spring too far and it didn’t compress anymore.

For the time being I was able to switch out the clutch with one off my old 357; I didn’t realize they were the same. Will try to fix the spring this weekend

I had one of the 3 clutch springs break last week. What’s the secret to getting the new spring installed. Every tool I have to stretch the spring wide enough to get in the slot, the part of the tool is in the way. I did a search on here and online in general and did not find any help. Thanks

When I had my hot blast I modified the door similar to what you are saying. Went from 4-5 hour burns that were uncontrollable to 8 hour or so controllable burns. Much better being able to manually control the air flow to the firebox

I pulled the clutch off and the spring looks like it’s broken. Seems like it should connect to itself at the end, but the tip of one side is broken. Maybe that was making the spring want to straighten and is then pushing the shoes against the drum, causing my problem
