    dewalt electric

We got a new Stihl tsa 230 cut-off at work and I was very disappointed, it is not in the same league as Dewalt,we sent it back as it is useless to us. Push on it at all and it stops. Can't believe Stihl is that far behind Dewalt on this one.As a long time Stihl chainsaw user and former 30+ yrs...

    Tree/Firewood identification

Quite a bit of Black Cherry here in my small locale in Nova Scotia,I've been cutting quite a bit, unmistakable rich cherry odour when freshly cut.

Sure is quiet in here....do I need to start a fight?

I see you guys are still at it,just thought I'd check in.6 years in April since I hung it up but still pick around on the weekends and get a few requests for tree removal. Some I take and some I refer to a friend who is still logging. I definitely miss it but was getting hard to make a good...

    630 muffler bolts coming loose

Does your saw have the double bolted muffler bracket or the single bolt one,I think the 266 had a double, maybe you need the double one.

    Getting an ms440 mag. Thoughts?

Like the guys before me said,no comparison. I ran a 440 and they just keep going. Until April 2013 I was a full time woodsman for 30yrs. and without a doubt the 440's were the most durable saw I have ever ran. Their only drawback is the fact they just won't die,so you don't get to buy nearly as...

    totally off the wall question

The plastics in them produce plenty of heat, I remember tossing an O28 on a fire a couple of yrs. ago as well.

    totally off the wall question

About 15 yrs. ago my building was piling up with worn out 61's,a 66,266,268,dolmar114 and an old 55 partner 10 saws in total.Being environmentally conscious I applied the 3 R's ,reduce, reuse, recycle. I reduced their size by starting a fire and piling them all on yea they burn pretty bright.

    Hand filing chain

Looks to me like the rakers are definitely too high, and it seems by the look of the pics. that you are way too high on the tooth when filing. You need to get down in the tooth farther as that will get you underneath the top plate and once you do that you will see a huge difference. That is the...

Bar oil? The other oil thread....Thin or thick?

Posted this reply in firewood section earlier today. Well up until 2 yrs. ago I was a faller for 30 yrs. and my 1st choice for best overall chain oil is definitely used motor oil. I can't speak for anything over an 18in. bar though. I had the option of using the so called real...

    bar and chain oil

Well up until 2 yrs. ago I was a faller for 30 yrs. and my 1st choice for best overall chain oil is definitely used motor oil. I can't speak for anything over an 18in. bar though. I had the option of using the so called real chain oil but didn't. Anytime I had to use the factory stuff I could...

    What's my craftsman worth

Has the oil been changed every tank of fuel ? Apparently that is important as per a local kijiji ad. I'm not sure on price but perhaps someone will be along to offer you a "salvageable opinion".:)

    So, what's your day job?

Well for 30 yrs. I was a faller,I like to think a fairly competent and responsible one. It just got too hard to make a decent living in our small province in the woods. Now I'm an Ironworker{reinforcing}Local 752 for the largest steel co. in North America. It was a bit of an adjustment but great...

    Saws that surprised you...

Most disappointing had to be Jonsered 2055,much ado about nothing. Screaming worthless piece of garbage ! Didn't care for Husqvarna 262 either, worked great but always felt center heavy. Most impressive would be my first 372xpg and my first ms 261 both great saws.

    Husq 444se

My neighbour a very active 80 has a barn find 444 in vg condition. He took it to the local shop for a tune -up. They removed the hose that comes out of the tank and connects to the vent and replaced it with what looked to me to be a vent system out of the 2054 2055 Jred family. I started it...
