Got me some new Chippewa boots today!

I normally got a good year out of Red Wings, but then in the past I also tried 2 cheap pairs of China knockoffs called "Smith's" from an Army Navy store for $70. They looked identical to Chippewa/Red Wing, but they completely fell apart in less than 4 months. They were ill-fitting, the leather...

I almost had me a wood thief?..

My deterrents: If they are determined enough to make it past the dogs, owner has a hurt locker ready for 'em that would have piss running down Hannibal Lecter's leg.

    Cut some mulberry today (pics)

Neat. I'm still waiting for the day that I get my first Osage Orange to cut and burn. They're pretty rare around here, but I'll catch up with one eventually....

    Stuck again!

Over the summer I was following my buddy out into the woods. He was in a 644-B frontloader, I was in the pickup, both on a rutted muddy trail. When we finally got to the trees we were taking down I said, "Man, I almost got stuck about 5 times back there!" He nodded and said, "Good." I looked...

    Cut some mulberry today (pics)

I've cut and burned a bunch of Mulberry, and all the stuff I have seen has always been pale yellow with a cornmeal yellow core and orange-ish bark with a yellowish green hue in the winter. So, the stuff in this thread is definitely quite different than what I am used to seeing also.

    Stove Temperature Question?

When a stove is good and hot (at least on a secondary burning stove), opening the damper some can actually cool off the combustion chamber and flue, while closing the damper some will induce secondary burn and significantly raise internal temperatures. There is obviously also a threshold in each...

I miss the brown sprawl of northeast Texas. Maybe I'll go back if I ever get to retire. What kinda Husky is that?

    I did nothin'

Piney Power! We got about an inch of snow today, followed by some freezing rain and the temps are dropping quickly way down here in the southern sliver of the state.. To compensate for whitespider's inactivity, I processed some firewood today. :msp_wink: I actually got a little less than...

Kung Fu and the Art of Wood Splitting

Heh. Eerie (Eric Stellman) used to live across from my girlfriend's girlfriend, incidentally. I think I still might have an old autographed Tee that he signed in 1989 somewheres.... I used to see all those guys around the neighborhood.

    Stove cement?

I agree. A good welder could give it a go. I have a friend who I trust with iron welds, but he's not anywhere near you. See if you can find a good local welder who is not intimidated by cast iron.
