    hydraulic oil for bar oil

Ive used it with TSC bar oil (30% hydraulic oil/70% bar oil) and it seems to work just fine. Hell I'm sure you could mix in a lot of various oddball things with good bar oil at that ratio and not notice a big difference.

Chain Grinder preferred rotation CW CCW

I tried that technique that mweba showed -- and it did not work on my grinder. I spun it up with my drill CW and flipped the switch and it wouldnt spin CW. Oh well, no biggie

Chain Grinder preferred rotation CW CCW

Mine only goes one direction (Carlton/Oregon 510C), and once you make a cut or 2 with it and then look at the chain the side with the "burrs" looks identical to the side ground outside to inside. So I don't think it makes much of a difference to people who just want good, sharp chains to cut...

How did you come up with your user name?

One of a few nicknames I've received since my Army days. Looking back I probably should have went with "Slow n Steady" since it seems to be my preference with the older, "slower" saws. But I use my MEATSAW moniker on every other forum so oh well.

    028 super

Does it start? If not does it have spark? Compression? Carb adjusted properly? Start with the little, cheap things like a carb kit and fuel/impulse lines. Then work your way towards more complex and more expensive solutions.

using a 1/8" wheel in a pinch for sharpening some 3/8 chains

What about the inverse? My 1/8" wheel just exploded at work and I was halfway through a pile of 3/8"LP chain. Can I use the 3/16" wheel to get a "good enough" cutter profile? And I don't have any 3/16" or 5/32" files either.

    028 super

They are a legend of the 50cc saws. They are fantastic firewood saws. Easy to work on and plenty of parts available. If there were ever a saw I regret selling it was my 028 Super. So yea I guess put me next in line if you don't want it.

    Pecan

Pecan is excellent cooking and firewood. It can also be made into fabulous hardwood floors. I try whenever I can to get some.

    Chain pain

Just get a 5 gallon bucket and soak them good in old gas or other solvent or maybe even ATF. I find it easier to do batch grinding ie. doing all the 1/8" wheel work, then all my 3/16" wheel, then finally do all the rakers with the 1/4" wheel. Hope you have some brews on hand, you've got a few...

Why do other peoples 2 stroke exhaust smell better than mine?

Stihl Ultra is obnoxious. It's fantastic oil but I hate the smell. Same with Husky LS and woodland pro. Klotz is definitely my favorite, but I don't like the buildup so I decided smell wasn't everything and I ditched it. I used to love starting up my super XL in my garage and smoking it out...

Using old gas to clean chains

I have been using the mucked up fuel to start burn piles and my fire pit. Works great! And it does a fine job at controlling pesky blackberry vines from encroaching on my property.

Using old gas to clean chains

Great thought on using mix gas. Maybe that's how I could get rid of or "use" all this outboard 2 cycle oil I have. What ratio should I use? :bang:

Using old gas to clean chains

Thanks to another member I just got a load of used chains. So I put some stale gas to good use! Soaking the gunked up chains in the old gas really worked well in cleaning them up good enough that I could sharpen on my grinder without loading up the wheel. While it did work really well on getting...

    Brand new MS261 woes.

Poor tuning from factory? 261s usually need some adjustment (beyond what the limiters will give you) -- if it was me I would take it back to the dealer regardless. You shouldn't have to fix or work on it yourself if its under warranty (for a stock saw). Period.

Silly me. These oil threads get me all confused.

Ya gotta love a good oil thread.

This looks like an appropriate place to ask this: I have access to a large quantity of xylene. Could I use this as an octane boost? If so I could use the fresher 87 octane. Unfortunately I don't have access to ethanol free fuel. I use H1R or Maxima K2 @ 32:1 with 89 octane fuel.

    MS291 vs. MS261

An MS280 is not a pro saw. Neither is the MS180.
