    I Think This 026 Is Over-Oiling - Maybe??

Thank you dl5205, Str8six and redfin for your replies, I value your input and knowledge and will pass the info to the saw owner. Having the process explained has relieved my concerns.

    I Think This 026 Is Over-Oiling - Maybe??

Thank you very much for your responses! Yes Knobby57, I am using Stihl bar oil. So from what you say lasmacgod, this is typical for this saw/pump to run this sloppy. I'll tell the saw owner to monitor the fuel level to oil level ratio but if this were my saw it would be unacceptable to me to...

    I Think This 026 Is Over-Oiling - Maybe??

I am fixing this low-hour 026 for a friend. I have the same saw but pro model. I got it running but his saw seems to put out copious amounts of bar oil compared to mine. His oil pump is not adjustable. Can anyone tell me judging by the photos if his saw is within acceptable oiling limits? It...

Looking For Impulse Pressure For A Stih 026....Cool! The forum is in Dutch today.

YOU GOT IT! That ended up being the problem - starts and runs great now. The intake bellows was not clamped down on the head. Noticed it while I was taking saw apart but would not have thought to check it otherwise. Thanks!!

    026 Pro Hard Starting

Just thought I'd make a note that this problem has been solved in the event it may help someone else. To make a long story very short, I took saw mostly apart, did compression, vacuum and pressure testing, replaced common maintenance parts and seems I have a very healthy saw but during...

026 Pro - Bar Oil Dribble

Frustrating isn't it. A leak is one thing but I can't ignore a constant pool of oil. Thanks for sharing your experience - looking forward to your report.

026 Pro - Bar Oil Dribble

 Gotcha - but if this were a normal leak I wouldn't be asking. Must be the heat making it leak worse because it's a constant pool. Now if only the saw would lick up after itself............. Thanks for your help!

026 Pro - Bar Oil Dribble

Hi rupedoggy, Ok, that makes sense because the valve immediately breaks vacuum till about 2psi where it holds but the valve will not release pressure. Is the problem remedied by installing a new pump? Not a big deal but at least I know what's going on. Thank you!

026 Pro - Bar Oil Dribble

Hello srcarr52, thank you for your help. I placed a small diameter wire in the hole (from both sides) an it feels as if there is a spring-and-ball sort of check valve in there so I was hesitant to try to push the wire through before asking for advice. Relieving the pressure in the tank by...

026 Pro - Bar Oil Dribble

Hello Folks, For a few years now, my 026 has been dribbling bar oil from the output tube when inactive/sitting after use and it's getting worse. It appears that after use, pressure remains in the oil tank and relieves itself slowly by drooling oil all over the bench or in the case until...

026 Ignition Module Air Gap Question

Thank you very much, I will re-gap. Cheers!

026 Ignition Module Air Gap Question

Manual recommends .008 to .012 (.2 to .3 mm). My factory set gap is currently at .004 (.012 mm). Should I re-gap to manual's specs or leave it alone. What kind of trouble could improper air gap cause? I am currently troubleshooting a hard start problem and found this discrepancy when I took...

Looking For Impulse Pressure For A Stih 026....Cool! The forum is in Dutch today.

Have IPL and checked and rechecked assembly several times. Okay, I thought a little impulse pressure was a good thing because it drove the diaphragm. Fuel line is new. Hopefully I will be doing a pressure test today. I know, it does sound like that is the culprit and it was the first...

Looking For Impulse Pressure For A Stih 026....Cool! The forum is in Dutch today.

Thanks again mtngun, I'll read up on pressure testing and attempt to do it tomorrow. Fuel pickup tube is new and pressure-tests fine. New carb kit installed correctly I'm certain. I've re-built about 5 of these little Walbro critters on various yard equipment and they are all good runners...

Looking For Impulse Pressure For A Stih 026....Cool! The forum is in Dutch today.

Thanks for your response mtngun. As you can probably tell, I am a rank novice at this sort of thing but trying my best to determine why my saw won't start normally. Runs great after I prime the carb and it seems as if the carb is not getting fuel at cold start-up so I'm trying to figure out...

Looking For Impulse Pressure For A Stih 026....Cool! The forum is in Dutch today.

Perhaps I am not using the correct search terms but I cannot find the proper pressure value for the impulse system on my 026. My MityVac says I've got about 6 (+ -) lbs pressure when I crank the saw while drawing off of the impulse tube, can anyone please offer me some acceptable pressure...

Walbro WT Metering Lever Adjust Info Please

I have a welch plug type Roanoker494 so if the kit says 0.060 to 0.070 then 0.065 that SigCutter suggests is right about where I need to be. Thank you both for your help!
