    Oil cap for ElectraMac EM400S?

Does anyone know where I can get an oil cap for a McCulloch ElectraMac EM400S? I lost mine down in the creek bottom last weekend. It's a nice little saw without a lot of hours on it, and really handy when within range of an electrical outlet.

    Dear Abby

Dear Mrs. J, I believe that you should join your husband in the woods when he is chainsawing and see what enjoyment and stimulation you might derive from it. To research your question, I accompanied my husband out on a woodcutting excursion. He very nicely showed me all of the safety features...

    Dear Abby

Here's how you do it... My wife wanted a new mountain bike. Her old one was a hard frame and she wanted a soft-tail to be easier on her body. She saw the frame on sale and said she was going to buy just it to get the deal, and then wait a while to have it built. OK, Honey, you deserve it...

Post your helpful chainsaw/cutting tips and tricks.

Years ago, I was working a Saturday as a wastewater plant operator. A co-worker showed up with a truck bed full of rounds. He got out the backhoe, set up on a flat dirt area, and used the hoe bucket teeth to scribe out an arc on the dirt. Then he set the rounds up centered on the arc, and...

MREs... Everything you need in a shelf stable bag good for 5 years. Some even include a pouch heater that uses water. I keep a full emergency kit in my Avalanche at all times; food and water, cutlery, first aid kit, space blanket, toiletries, a lil snort of hooch, spare socks, a little cash...

Post your helpful chainsaw/cutting tips and tricks.

I know this is an old post, but instead of a "first aid kit" we carry a "trauma kit" with a more extensive array of equipment and supplies. We purchased the last one from practicaltrauma.com.

Cordless Chainsaws and Outdoor Power Equipment

Hey, I have one of those, and so does Dad. It does OK within its limitations. I keep mine in the work basket on our Mule for light trimming and pruning. Dad uses his for cutting scraps for firewood at the local suburban sawmill.

    Baileys Shipping

I ordered a Fiskars X27 on-line Monday at about 1 PM. Bailey's didn't ship UPS 'til Tuesday. For some reason, UPS decided to take it from Sacramento all the way to Vernon, before getting it back up to me in San Luis Obispo. Bottom line, not too thrilled that Bailey's took a day to ship it...

How has your chainsaw "taste" evolved?

We bought what we bought at the time and kept all of them. The first 2 are the Deeres by Remington Dad got from the company. Then the 14" Craftsman for my wife, an electric 16" Mac, a Techi-Tool power pruner, 18 or 20" Craftsman, the Husky 570 with 2 bars (24 and 28), and even a Black and Decker...

Craftsman/Poulan won't throttle up when warm

OK, I received the parts to fix up my wife's 14" Craftsman model 358.351140 (fuel cap, air and fuel filters), installed them, dumped the fuel in the tank and filled it with fresh mix.and fired it up. It's a nice little machine until it's run for a few minutes. Then I remember why it was on...

Thanks to the forum, and who maed this Craftsman?

Thanks for the replies! I already have the parts ordered. We still have the original manual, so I looked up the part numbers there and went to searspartsdirect.com to order. Interestingly, 2 of them came up by their old part numbers, even though they'd been superseded. But one of them...

Thanks to the forum, and who maed this Craftsman?

First of all, thanks to my peeps here in the chainsaw area. I've learned a lot, including why my "antique" Deeres might be cutting crookedy. I might try resurrecting them for one last hurrah. They smoke up the woods like a mosquito fogger. ;) Also, thanks for all of the threads about getting...

Do you still have the 1st chainsaw that you ran?

Me too, my Dad's 19" Deere (Remington). As written on this forum, the original photo model in Deere livery, for their first foray into chainsaws.

What takes pine tree sap off a chainsaw??

Wick lighter fluid AKA Ronsonol like you'd put in your Grandpa's Zippo lighter, which is just petroleum naptha, available in the paint aisle. Might need to look for VM&P Naptha (Varnish Makers and Painters).

    Stupidest Repairs Ever Witnessed!!!!

Dad did something similar back in the 70s with his Fiat 124 wagon. It was hard starting in the Midwest winters, so he snaked a poly tube from the passenger compartment through the firewall and into the air cleaner horn. He pushed the tubing over the pipe of a propane torch with the burner...

    Remington Chainsaws(including Mall chainsaws)

I have a couple of Remington saws with interesting histories. Both are in John Deere colors, and date from Deere's first foray into OMP (Outside Manufactured Products) in the late '60s or early '70s. The 19"er was originally Remington orange, repainted to Deere green and yellow. It was the...
