quick question how to seal gas tank seam on Pro Mac 10-10

I had to disassemble the gas tank on the way to going through the saw motor and making sure everything was clean. The original seal is a cork gasket, which of course now won't re-seal (nor did I expect it to!). So the question is, what other means of sealing that seam could I use? Or do you...

    My little lumber jill

Congrats! That brings back good memories for me. We've had three of those moments (first one was a single, second was a double!) Mine are all boys. Twin boys is what we got for trying for the girl lol.

Oh darn. Rebuild time I think. pro mac 10-10 automatic

Haha if I have to replace it, I'm getting a pro mac 700! Hope to not have to replace it though. Our family has had it since new. Edit: so I know I'm going to need the piston stop tool. What other tools am I going to need that I'm not likely to have? I have a torque wrench that'll give me...

Oh darn. Rebuild time I think. pro mac 10-10 automatic

Yeah I think I've got some major issues with my saw. Looking at the cyl. walls through the intake port (can only see exhaust side walls) there is what looks like some pretty good scoring. Funny enough I looked at the exhaust side of the piston recently (through the exhaust port) and while not...

    What was your 1st chainsaw?

I inherited my family's Mac. It is a pro mac 10-10 automatic with a 16-inch bar. Hasn't been used too much. Unfortunately I don't get a chance to use it around here very much, but at least I took it from non-running to running pretty well lol. Maybe someday I'll live somewhere with trees...

Salt burn on flowering lilac leaves?

So this shrub is planted here in my yard in Las Vegas. Las Vegas, as some of you know, has quite hard water. See the pictures of canyon walls near Hoover Dam if you want to see some of the effects. I don't know what kind of soil preparation was done (landscapers installed the tree) but I know...

    New Saw 1959 Clinton D65

Wow, and I thought my Mac was loud lol. I guess loud is relative. I'd restore it. Something that loud should really be mostly a shelf display piece anyways. May as well have it looking nice!

    Who has a dodge powerwagon?

Growing up, my favorite uncle had one. I think he got it new (mid 70s model with a V8) and he eventually gave it to his son when he bought a new 2500 gas Chevy king cab (I think 2004). the Power Wagon is still strong as ever as far as I know. Awesome truck.

How to evaluate scoring? Pro Mac 10-10

Haha very funny. I was just trying to avoid taking the carb off again b/c I wasn't smart enough to take pics when I had it off the first time! I'll go get it done. You can see the thin lines I'm talking about at the edge of the intake port. Basically the whole surface looks like that...

How to evaluate scoring? Pro Mac 10-10

Well, that's the thing. I don't have enough experience to know the difference between "wear marks" and "scoring." Where could I get a good visual of the difference?

How to evaluate scoring? Pro Mac 10-10

Well interesting you mention that. As far as I know (been running this saw off and on for 15 years) it's always run the same (I've never used another saw actually -- but this one has no trouble cutting if the chain is sharp). One thing I do notice is that it has an oil leak from the oiling...

How to evaluate scoring? Pro Mac 10-10

This is a saw that runs great and cuts great, feels like it has good compression. Looking through the intake port, I can see some light scoring on the piston. Basically it doesn't look like a new piston, but it's not scored to the point where I could look at it and say it's trash or soon to be...

You Stihl guys might get a kick out this! 4 year-old art content

Well we've got to get him over his fear of the noise first lol. My Mac is really loud (a pro mac 10-10 automatic), and that's his only real experience so far.

You Stihl guys might get a kick out this! 4 year-old art content

Yeah my four-year-old has gotten into drawing lately, and he did this totally unsolicited. We had been watching a special on TV of how they build Stihl saws at the factory in Germany, and part of the filming included a German forest ranger dressed up in his work clothes using his Stihl (culling...

It's not a chainsaw, but it's a small engine related question.

Update: after pursuing the echo dealer route and having them tell me the part is not in the database, I did a bit more web research and somehow discovered that the engine is made by Robin-Subaru. And I did find the coil but they want an arm and a leg for it. Apparently this thing also has a...

It's not a chainsaw, but it's a small engine related question.

The coil says SEC on it and it has something that looks like a drawing of sunshine with a J in the middle.

It's not a chainsaw, but it's a small engine related question.

Yeah I knew that Sears doesn't make most of their own stuff (like batteries for instance). I will try the Echo dealer route. I have the coil in hand, so in theory it should be easy right?

It's not a chainsaw, but it's a small engine related question.

I've got a gas hedger, Craftsman 636.796670. It needs a coil. It should run just fine if I can find one, since I cleaned the carb and it has good compression, and the on-off switch does work. Craftsman no longer has the coil for it (although they have probably a hundred parts for it that...

opening a chainsaw restoration business thoughts good or bad

It sounds like you're in a business with a customer base from which you could get a feel for the market. Just off the cuff, the saw-collecting community strikes me as a group that by and large is handy enough to restore their own stuff rather than farming it out. It might be something you...
