    A fond farewell...

Well, its been a good run. Almost 5 years in the hearth industry. But the siren call of a really good opportunity in another industry was too good to resist. Going into the Electrical Utilities Hardware business - something I used to be in. Kinda boring stuff compared to wood burning but...

Here's my wood stove, can you help me with some questions on how to burn with it?

Just PM'd you with a document on how to get the most from your wood stove. You stove looks like a Vogelzang Defender but yes as the others mentioned we need Brand, Model, kind of wood, Humidity level in Wood. BTW that window looks cracked.

Good secondary combustion there. It'd be nice to see a video when the fire's raging then when the damper is down.

Drolet HT200 vs. Pacific Energy Summit, Quadrafire 5700, and Lopi Liberty

At their core all wood stoves are made of 3 components. Steel, bricks and glass. The heat comes from the wood. The bigger the firebox the more heat. In effect, wood stoves are black square boxes made of metal. Therefore the need to be cautious of the marketing baloney you might hear out there...

Introducing Brand New Wood Furnace to Market - The Drolet Tundra!

Aside from some cosmetics they are identical. The purpose of having two different models of the same unit is to allow our retailers the ability to compete. This is quite common with any appliances. Basically if you are a small retailer and carry the Heatmax you dont really want to compete...

Is all DuraPlus stuff created equal?

No.... They are definitely not all created equal. if you can afford it go with Olympia Chimney. It's 1" insulation yet the best heat rated. The only brand where you dont need a heat radiation shield when going through a second floor closet. Woodland sells it and also has the Champion brand...

Does anyone have an RSF Opel fireplace?

One thing you havent mentioned is the size of your house. How well insulated it is, where you gonna put it etc... If I may suggest the Valcourt FP10 Lafayette . It comes EPA Washington State (below 4.5 gr/Hr 78% efficient) out of the box. Yet it retails below $3,000 Kitted Black. It comes...

    Insert Advice

I'm a sales guy and an owner. I'll just repeat what I said in the other thread. Ok, so two things have not been taken into consideration 1) your budget 2) the size of the fireplace it will go in. An insert will set you back at around $1k to $2K +. A cat insert even more. Then you have to...

new stove time! looking for suggestions

Ok, so two things have not been taken into consideration 1) your budget 2) the size of the fireplace it will go in. An insert will set you back at around $1k to $2K +. A cat insert even more. Then you have to factor in the liner ( You must have a liner, if you vent in a 6" or more chimney)...

So I just thought I would post a few pics to show how to empty the ashes on our furnace. Notice the furnace comes with a tool to hook the ash plug and allow to rake the ashes into the large ash pan.

Introducing Brand New Wood Furnace to Market - The Drolet Tundra!

Well, if this is important to you... go with what works. Conventional wood furnaces have been tested at 40% - 50% efficiencies. So if you get a furnace at 80% efficiencies you 'theoretically' cut your consumption in half. Real life users have told us time and again they have cut down...

Introducing Brand New Wood Furnace to Market - The Drolet Tundra!

Assuming the above is true, you are willing willing to cut, split, cord, cure, load and sweep twice as much to save time with the ashes? All you have to do is ask those in this forum who use a Caddy or Kuuma and they will tell you what their experiences with ashes vs other benefits.
