    Firewood is lawn debris?

Lol, my place is surrounded in privacy fence from the outside similar to that cartoon. I keep less than a cord at the house and just haul it home a cord at a time as I need it. I bought a 1/4 acer paved lot next to us a few years back and surrounded it all in 6 foot tall privacy fence. You have...

    First Fell with the MS361

Love my 361 too. I know exactly what you are saying about being afraid of it at first. When cutting rounds out of a log I always felt like I was catching the saw compared to cutting with other saws. Once I got used to it I have a tough time selecting my other saws unless I am tired then its the...

    Firewood is lawn debris?

I won't be building a woodshed, 25 years in the same location burning wood, no complaints till now and for years we diddnt have a fence. That's funny that you mention a homeowners assoc, I life in a once farming comuntity of about 1800 people. Lots of people burn wood here. Not sure what to...

    Quitting with wood burning?!?

Well, she is a wife and if she dosent complain about this, it will be something else. My wife dosent complain about wood because natural gas in our area is really expensive. We have an indoor stand alone furnace. She will even feed it as long as I bring the wood into the shop.

    Firewood is lawn debris?

Well as it happens every few years the small townI live in goes bat crap crazy and tries to make everyone assimilate to gated comuntity standards. I got a certified notification that our privacy fence was not straight, a few posts were leaning causing it to be wavy. I agreed and told them I...

Lost some Friends today over Firewood.

Do yourself a favor and put some distance between you and these folks. I have a business on the side and we do work for friends. My hourly rate on my big machine is 100.00 an hour and for the first 4 hours unless you are my parent or sibling that is gonna be the price. Now I knock alot off after...

    The process of getting behind!

Oh, it is a ms390, I know it's a baby to lots here but on our place that is the big dog! I had to cut both sides of several of the big maples, but it did it fine. Only issue all day was that maple got hard waiting to be cut up. Saw ate it no problem but the x27 didn't like it as well. No...

    The process of getting behind!

Cut roughly a cord and split part of it. Will Finish it this weekend. Have some more lined up and some hard to get to down oak trees. Was great to run the big saw. I really like that thing.

    Poplar for firwood?

I am interested to hear the responses, I have a load of poplar saw logs that I haven't been able to afford to have sawn, if it is any good I will cut and split it. I burned the tops of this one and the smell of the smoke green. Would gag me. It was bad and I don't do that easily. Not sure on...

    The process of getting behind!

Thanks, we will be fine one way or the other. I was just thinking earlier, how did we get in this spot and after thinking about it I thought somebody else might be interested in my story. To tell the truth I think I will be happy just to be back cutting.

    The process of getting behind!

We often say its been one of hose days, or months, but years? I started getting behind on cutting and splitting a few years ago when I messed my knee up. That set me out for a year. Then trying to catch up financially kept me from the woods. As the pile diminished we ended the season last year...

    Elm?

What I am cutting is a foot or less in diameter. No bark on them eats chains and is almost the exact color in the middle of the photo. I was even talking the other day that it is as pretty in the middle as any hardwood. It is stringy to split. I am not sure if it is what stunk so bad this year...

    Elm?

We have a bunch of what I think is standing dead elm. I t has no bark, has a dark outer color and is really hard. I can cut about a tank full of gas and I have to sharpen the chain! I think this is what we cut last year that stunk terrible when we burned it. Does that sound like elm?

    Invasive ID

We are fighting Japanese honeysuckle and we are loosing! Birds love it but nothing else seems to want anything to do with it. We have been pushing it out with bucket and. Burning it. We haven't had it come back where we pushed it out but we have it everywhere.

    What chaps to get?

Well looks like leblondville gets it. They are not much more than the others and made in the USA is a big plus for me. I think I will spend the extra few bucks and get the comp ones. Only concern I have is I have big calves, can't even wear cowboy boots anymore. Hope they wrap around without...

    skidsteer winch

If you go electric, I would go cheap, even the best electric is going to burn up dragging logs any distance. I went through 2 last year just dragging rolling equiptment onto my trailer. I am trying a ramsey now but at 1200.00 it is tough to swallow. Dont buy anything warn. their customer service...

    skidsteer winch

I have given this alot of thought. If on the front make it like the 3 point winches so it diggs into the ground and takes the load off the skid steer. Pierce winch has a bunch of hydraulic winches that are fairly reasonable. They have one with a 300 foot drum on it. That would be awsome!
