    Regional dishes and cooking methods

What regional dishes are popular where you live, or have lived. Some conversations in the What's for dinner thread got me thinking. Presently I live West of St. Louis and have discovered a few dishes here, that I hadn't encountered before. Here's a few: Toasted Ravioli- Beef Ravioli that's...

    Stihl SuperCut trimmer head

Do any of you guys/gals have experience with the Stihl SuperCut trimmer head? I'm getting ready to buy an fs110 and was looking at the SuperCut head as an option. I've got an fs250 equipped with a saw blade and an fs130 with a PolyCut head. Both of which have the bicycle bar. I want a trimmer...

    I was amazed

In 2008, my BIL, parked this truck in the woods behind my barn. At the time, he didn't have a place to work on it and the automatic transmission was starting to slip while on the highway. Last Saturday, he called and asked if he could come out today and pick it up. I spent about an hour this...

    Weight of Oak

I tried the search function but couldn't find what I needed. Can anyone tell me what the weight per cu ft is for green Oak? I have a friend who gets 50 cu ft bundles of Oak scraps from a sawmill. These are odd length, 12" to 40" long, pieces of 10"x 12" beams. I need to figure out how much the...

    Deals at Rural King

Got the newest Rural King sale flyer in the mail today. No-Spill 5 gallon gas cans are $27.99. Bar oil is $5.99 a gallon. I haven't tried the RK bar oil but the No-Spill gas cans are the best I've found.

    Stihl 261cm & 362cm

I was in a tractor dealer today, who also sells Stihl. He had ms261's and ms362's on the shelf. They were tagged and priced as CM saws. When I pointed out that the saws were the plain carb models, the owner of the dealership got pretty indignant and told me I didn't know what the hell I was...

Got to cut and split a little last weekend

Last weekend I got to spend some time cutting and splitting. My wife and SIL went to see an aunt in Iowa and I got to spend the entire weekend in the woods. I only worked five or six hours each day, had to save some time for shooting a little and drinking alcoholic beer.

    Some people

Last Monday I was bucking some logs I'd been wanting to get cut up. I started at 9am and planned on cutting until it started getting hot. At 9:30, I noticed a Lexus SUV coming down the slightly improved logging road I call a driveway. The occupant, a middle aged woman pulled up, got out and...

A question for you professional loggers

I don't mean any disrespect to anyone here but I need to ask a question. Are most logging operations as much of a cluster**** as the ones shown on Ax Men? I can't imagine operations as poorly organized and run as those, staying in business very long. I would think that a great deal of...

Merry christmas to all on arbor site

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and got to spend quality time with their families. We had family over the weekend, so today it's just me and the warden. I'm getting ready to go out and cut some wood. The weather is perfect, high 20's and dry. Everyone have a safe and enjoyable holiday...

    Limited coils and cat mufflers

Can someone explain the reason some saws have rev limiting coils and others not and why some saws have cat mufflers while others don't? I assume that it's EPA driven but I don't understand the applications and why it's only on certain saws and brands and not on others.

    What are you thankful for

I'm thankful for: The military and the ones who gave their lives so I can live in the land of the free. My wife, who tolerates me. My parents, who taught me right from wrong and that hard work is a virtue. My children, who learned the same from me. My friends, who have always been there for...

    Right match

Is an 8 pin rim the proper choice for a 20" bar running 3/8 Stihl RM chain on an Ms460? I'll be using it mostly in 12"-24" oak. Thanks, Steve

    562xp or something else

I joined the forum last year to get some info on wood heating. I was perfectly happy with my 3 saw plan, 038 mag, 026 and wild thing (loaner saw). While browsing the site, I made the mistake of looking at the chainsaw forum. Since then I bought two new saws, ms261 and ms460. I also acquired a...
