The only reason I can think of for using a higher Octane gas, might be because the gas companies are still leaving Ethanol out of Premium. Or has that changed to?

"Good Spark" but is it good under compression? CHange plug first, make sure properly gapped. Maybe bad coil. BTW.... how is ompression? Did you pull the muffler and look to see if the piston is scored?

Good find! You might be able to tighten up the spring mounts by inserting a 4 or 5mm allen head wrench down thru the spring, and tightening up the screw that mounts the spring to the frame. Have fun!

Air hose, first to get rid of most dust and chips, then brushed/scrubbed on mineral spirits in a parts washer. Blow dry with air hose , then wipe down plastic parts with Armor All.

Run it with the bar off, to check your oiler. Dry chains are hard to turn on dry bars. Doubtfull, but by chance, your not running a .063 gauge chain on a .050 guage bar?

Heres some pics of the one I worked on. Easy service, not much wear on it. Brushes were practically brand new, they showed little wear.... Tremendous torque, I couldn't stall it by bearing down on it.

Pull the muffler off and look at the piston.... is it scored?? Melted??

Can't go wrong with a 460. Lots of power.... easy to work on.... I'll wait for feedback from 461 owners, before jumping in with both feet..

That carb just may have the little slot in the metering diaphram, where the top of the needle slips into. If its not installed correctly, it will allow too much fuel to get into LOW & HI. My memory fails me on the HT11....

Steve, quick answer: Yes. Did you COMPLETELY take the carb apart, blow it clean with carb cleaner or spirits, then reassemble with Rebuild kit? Having the Low out that far, one of the channels are blocked up somewhere....

Yeah, check these first. But if you pull the pump, you should be able to spin it by hand to see if it actually pumps oil. I've seen a freeze plug pop out from the front of the oil chamber, underneath the muffler. That was a different model though.

Yep, thats an EPA carb. No high or low adjustments. You have to take it allll apart. Blow it out with Gumout Carb Cleaner spray, then let it soak in carb cleaner or 'spirits' over night. Blow it out again, then reassemble. If it still doesn't run, you just may need to buy a new carb. I hate...

Yep, same carb as the stock 076. Start with both Hi/Low set to 1 turn out, then adjust from there. New fuel line & filter, Impulse line, Rebuild kit, intake gasket or Dirko HT Red. Sounds like you have it under control :msp_thumbup:

The 026 Pro used the WT-403, same as the MS260 Pro. You can try the WT-426 carb, which has HI & LOW adjustments.

If the flywheel key was snapped and timing was off, you would still get some backfiring, sometimes thru the carb. No POPs at all, check plug, plug wire, etc... while the plug is off, squirt about 1/2 teaspoon of fuel mix in there and see if that makes the saw POP a couple times. Do you have...
