    log splitter engine swap

I spoke too soon. I used it for a few minutes early this evening and when I went to shut it off I noticed a few pieces of blue plastic on the ground and tracked it to the insert. I must have misaligned the couplers or the mount shifted. I guess I need a new insert, do I get another blue one?

    log splitter engine swap

Thanks to those of you who took the time to post helpful information. I got the mount squared away and I think I need a Woods L07534 (3/4") coupler. I have a woods L075 7/8" which is too big for the predator engine

    log splitter engine swap

I picked up a mtd splitter with a vertical honda that has a hole in the block. I had a predator horizontal shaft that i started to mount but I'm having issues getting the pump to fit. The mount from the honda is to big and the new mount i got of amazon without measuring doesn't bolt up the to...

    Dolmar 7900 rebuild

I need some advice on a new cylinder and piston for my 7900. I tried to do a search but couldn't find any new information on which P&C to buy and if the big bore kit is worth buying? I looked around on the web for oem but they are in short supply, so are the big bore kits.

    repowering mtd splitter

I have a yard machine(mtd) 27ton splitter that need a new engine. It currently has a vertical shaft honda that has been a pain since the day I got it. I'm thinking about putting a predator horizontal shaft on it. There is plenty of hose on the pressure side but the flow from the tank to the pump...

    028 surging

Surging might be the wrong terminology. It revs up to full throttle and then occasionally over revs, after the cut quite often. I've cleaned the carb a few timeand replaced lines, but I still have the issue. For $10 I think I should just swap them. On another not would I gain anything by...

    028 surging

After reading your replies I respected and now see the seal. I was assuming there would be more rubber/plastic visible. Maybe I should have cleaned it before posting

    028 surging

I picked up an old 028 and got it running but it would rev up a lot. I assumed the seals were leaking. I decided to take it apart and take a look. The flywheel side came apart easy but the clutch didn't want to budge. I ended up using I'm impact screw gun and it screwed off easily...

    Oil out the vent

I used it again yesterday. I set it up 180 degrees opposite from the other day and no leak. The vent side was a little bit higher. I guess it was out of level.

    Oil out the vent

No foam or bubbles in the fluid. No recent work. It could have been out of level. I moved the splitter so I will never know for sure. The fluid was clean so I don't think it is a water issue.

    Oil out the vent

I haven't done anything to the machine in a few months. I fired it up a few days ago and split a few pieces fine. I split a few this morning and then went back at it this afternoon. I split 1 piece of wood, it was a nasty crotch but it split it like normal. I started on the 2nd round and that...

    Oil out the vent

I have a yard machine 27 ton splitter. I was using it a little today when I luckily noticed it starting to dump oil out of the vent. I shut it off quickly and only lost about a quart of ATF. Why would it over flow all of a sudden. The cylinder was still cool, I only split 2 logs. The fluid was...

    tuning carb

I am trying to clean up the yard but my small saws don't seem happy and I don't want to use the 7900 for this small stuff. Ryobi 40cc. I gave it a muffler mod and it hasn't been great since. I start it up and give it throttle, it rung strong for 5 seconds then dies out. Turn them in and out I...

    chinmy damper turnen question.

Did you lube the damper? Most dampers need a lot of lubrication. I'd pull the section of pipe above the damper off and pour at least a quart in but don't be afraid to pour up to 5 quarts in. 50 weight works well. If you have a hot fire going even better. The heat helps the oil work all the...

Ever found something strange in your ashes??

One time I found a splitting wedge when I went to clean out the ashes. I was raking the coals and hit something heavy. I fiddled with it for a minute before I realized what it was. Nearest I can figure I was splitting a piece and got it wedged in it. Got frustrated with it and threw it aside to...

    Lopi Insert Blower Upgrade?

I have an Avalon insert (parent company to Lopi) and I have the same gripe about the poor fan design. Yes it puts out good heat and moves a decent amount of air but it is so LOUD. I think I will brake down and buy a new fan from Avalon once I get the ambition to repaint the stove. My stove is...
