Shouldn't that be Chainsaw Whine? :)

    spark plug cleaner

http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/AP-7833.html Just make darn sure you get all the abrasive off the plug. You don't want it floating around in your cylinder.

Oregon 11h 3/4 pitch harvester chain. Here's the thread detailing the buildup: http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=1926

    Poulan Pro 295

Lawn Masters is probably right. Once it's fixed though you'll be back here complaining about it using too much oil. :) I have to add an ounce of STP to a quart of bar oil to slow the flow in my Poulans here in the Texas heat.

    Wood haulers....

That's the best part about electric motors - 100% torque at 0 rpm. I don't know if it's because it's an old Melex or because I'm running 2 sets of 3 twelve volts instead of 6 six volt batteries, but this thing really is a workhorse. Ever seen a golf cart pop a wheely? I'll try to get it on...

Why don`t you guys like Champion plugs?

The reminds me, the last time I had a bad new Champion like that come in the shop, I broke it open and found the coil resistor was missing. Poor quality control.

Why don`t you guys like Champion plugs?

Not so happily in my experience as an auto mechanic. Champions are the only plugs that have ever broken off leaving the threads behind in the head in the thousands I've changed. It's only happened to me a half dozen times but it usually means having to remove the head to keep metal shavings out...

Oil Mixture Ratio Question for Simonizer

I recently bought an Echo trimmer. The instructions say to mix at 50:1 and to mix all previous Echo 40:1 products to 50:1. I'm going to have to assume there's been an improvement in oils if that's the case. I tried running the new trimmer on fresh 40:1 since that is what I already had on hand...

    Technical questions

This sounds pretty brazen to me: "If you need to contact me, call (999) 999-9999. This is my work number and we are one of the biggest Stihl/ Husqvarna dealers in Canada. Ask for Simon. Cheers." Agree it could have been handled a bit more tactfully.

Whats the first NEW chainsaw you ever purchased?

My first chainsaw was an '05 vintage Poulan Pro 262. I can't believe I waited over 50 years before buying my first saw. I've never had so much fun working in the summer heat. I must be getting senile... or heat stroked. :blob3:

    Poulan problem

I have a Poulan Pro 262 and am very pleased with it. Paid $149 at Sutherlands, but they're going for $99 new on eBay (though it might be worth the $50 to have a store to return it to in case it's a dud). Been using it weekends all summer helping a rancher clear cedar and mesquite. Like the...

    Poulan problem

A few months ago I found a Craftsman 2.0/Poulan 2000 in the scrap metal pile at work (insert snide comments here). Replaced the fuel line and it started on the 3rd pull! $35 for a new 12" bar, chain, and sprocket and it's like new. Nothing like the feeling of breathing life back into an old pos...

I broke down and bought a new chainsaw

Even real saws are subject to operator error, which as it turns out was most, if not all of the OP's problem. Can I get an amen too? :)

I broke down and bought a new chainsaw

That's what has me bugged about this case. Why is it dying and is it losing fuel or spark when it does? Do any of you small engine mechanics use a spark tester? http://www.lislecorp.com/tool_detail.cfm?detail=207 That will let you watch the spark as it's running and be able to see if it's...

I broke down and bought a new chainsaw

I woundn't think this would be a choke or starting problem.

I broke down and bought a new chainsaw

Plug your zip code into the Poulan site to find an authorized dealer nearer to you (hopefully). http://www.poulan-pro.com/support.asp He probably knows exactly what's wrong with it before even looking at it as he's probably already fixed a few of them. Then once he fixes it come back here...

    Homelite XL2 Auto Problems

From the Chainsaw Service Manual carb section: Engine stops when decelerating: (1) Idle speed, idle mixture, or high speed mixture screws improperly adjusted. (2) Defective pump diaphragm. (3) Pulse passage leaking or restricted. (4) Air leaks between carb and crankcase. (5) Throttle...

    Homelite ez will not start

Hey guys, newbie here. Really enjoy the forum, for the most part, and have learned tons of info already, but everytime I see one of you run down anothers brand of saw I cringe. As an auto mechanic I too have to work on all brands, often grudgingly, but never with malice no matter the make...
