Anybody Use A Large Propane Fridge in Kitchen?

That is on the research list! Just looking at what options make good sense. I do appreciate all the comments to this point! :blob3:

Anybody Use A Large Propane Fridge in Kitchen?

I thought with so many in this forum who use firewood to heat their homes, perhaps a few of you might also be a little more electrically independent by also using a propane fridge in the kitchen. I'm looking to replace our electric fridge with a propane model, 15-18 cu ft, and get away from very...

    Lifting tongs or something simular

I can usually just drop the tongs (meaning lower the bucket arms) over either a large log, or a couple of small ones and lift. Sometimes I have more luck than others. When the logs are lying uneven, I just get off the tractor and place the tongs around several logs myself, get back on & lift...

    Lifting tongs or something simular

I got a set of grapnel hooks from Tractor Supply last year, probably spent $40 on them. Don't remember exactly - they were on sale. However, I move all kinds of wood, as you can perhaps see in the picture, and they're easy on - easy off. I just take my front bucket off, attach the grapnels with...

buying a big woodstove, which one to buy?

Check out the Yukon-Eagle line. Yukon Klondike Wood and Coal Furnace I have an Eagle IV Klondike. This is my third heating season with it, and I absolutely love it. I put it in the basement of my 2500sqft ranch and just had it ducted into the existing duct work for the already installed...

    wood furnace

I have a Yukon-Eagle IV "Klondike." It's capable of burning wood or anthracite coal. I absolutely love the furnace!:D:msp_biggrin: Going on it's third year of use at my 2500sq ft house in the U.P. It puts out so much heat, whether on wood or coal, that if the daytime temps are going to...

Why I will never buy another Speeco product again

I have an Iron & Oak PTO mounted 20 ton hydraulic splitter. I love the thing, and it's a real work horse. I've yet to come across a log I can't split. Basically if I can heft it upon the splitting surface, it'll cut the logs. I really like it!!

    Chimney sweep

I have a wood/coal burning furnace, and I have my chimney swept once per year. It's worth the piece of mind.

    Want a inside woodfurance.

I'll second the Yukon-Eagle Klondike IV! I have one (we just finished our first "full" heating season, unless it gets really cold again) and I couldn't be happier with it! It is great, whether burning wood or coal! I saved myself almost $2000 this year over what I spend just for propane last...

    burn temperature

Yep, same with my Yukon-Eagle Klondike furnace. I take it up to 800 or 900deg when firing it up and establishing a good coal bed, then throttle it back to run at about 400degF.

Iron & Oak PTO Log Splitter

Pictures! Yes! I was just at my U.P. of Michigan house this weekend and took some pics of my set up before getting to work. For those of you noticing the cinder blocks underneath, the splitter works just fine without them, but all those physics classes I took told me to put a support (with a...

    Stove Temperature Question?

I'm burning in a whole-house furnace (Yukon-Eagle Klondike), and I have both a magnetic and a probe pyrometer on the exhaust flue to measure temps. I routinely run my furnace with probe exhaust temps between 400 and 600degF, depending on how cold the outside temps are. I have a 2500 sqft home...

Tree Hugger Trying to Shut Me Down

Explain to the Tree Hugger that burning wood is actually "carbon neutral." That'll make him and his Obama-like buddies happy!!:hmm3grin2orange:

Iron & Oak PTO Log Splitter

Took delivery of a 20-ton Iron & Oak PTO log splitter this weekend for use behind my John Deere 3032E. Great piece of equipment. The three point hitch took about 2 minutes to attach. Way too easy. Fired up the tractor, drove it and the now attached log splitter out to my already cut pile and...

Heating Bedrooms (or Not ) Poll

Wife and I like the bedroom cool, but not like ice! My elderly mother, on the other hand, likes her room like a sauna. I use an electric space heater in her room for those really cold nights.

I need a new Furnace - Propane is killing me !!

+ 2 on insulation first, then furnace. I have a wood/coal furnace made by Yukon-Eagle (same company that makes Big Jack wood add-on that Crappie Keith talks about) and it was the right decision for me. I alternate burning wood & coal, and when burning coal exclusively it's 1/2 the cost of...

    16 degress outsiside.

7 degF outside tonight here in the Upper Peninsula of MI! While I'm burning primarily anthracite coal right now, I alternate between coal and wood. Love the very toasty 75degF in the house right now. Wifey is happy too!!:rock:

Hauling Firewood in Log Form. Why On Earth Would Ya!

I cut, split & stack wood because I like the exercise. I also REALLY like saving money over propane, but mostly I like being outside and the physical labor involved. I'm 56 now, with no major physical complaints, so maybe when I'm 86 I'll think differently.:rock:

Creosote problem (not in my chimney)

My furnace manual says to set the BD at 0.03 inches of WC. I think that's pretty well the norm from what I've read on this and coal burning forums. While I'm not an expert by any means, I measure my draft before the BD with firebox and ash pan closed and the furnace motor on and providing air.

Creosote problem (not in my chimney)

I have a wood/coal furnace and burn both. During those "warmer" periods when the daytime temps don't call for coal (which REALLY cranks out the heat!) and we burn wood, I'll see a creosote build up upstream and downstream of the baro damper, but only for a few inches either way. While I may be...
