Thoughts About Having The Husky Closed Port 55 Piston Reproduced....

Its sad, but true. I have seen and used a number of 55 ranches and had no idea before arboristsite that there was a closed port version available. And locally here although the rancher is still popular, I'm not sure enough of the general use homeowners would even know what to look for, or ask...

Diamond abrasive coating for top of piston

I think old-cat wants to use the piston to grind down the squish band in the cylinder, not to run the coated piston during normal use. Why not try putting some fine grit sand paper on it?

    Husky 444se

Its a real shame for the 444 not having any aftermarket pistons available. Whenever I find local 444`s come up I try and buy them. A lot of folks don`t want to give them up. Good luck with your search for a piston, buy parts saws if you find em.

Is this crank ok to use?

when you get the bearings out measure them up. They may be a commonly available bearing from a bearing supplier. Most times saws are built with a common off the shelf bearing to cut down on the cost of using specialty bearings and seals. My thoughts would be that the saw was built in a time when...

Help Choose Rockman Premium, Husky Or Stihl Combo Helmet ??

I debated getting the Husky helmet, ended up getting the Oregon. I was very happy with that helmet, the ear muffs were far better and had cut out in the helmet to allow them to sit flush, vented helmet, six point suspension. I waited till it was on sale, got it cheaper than the husky...

Never found too many of those muffler nuts to stay put, last time i rebuilt a 55 I had a friend weld the cylinder so the muffler can bolt on.

    Walbro HD199 Fix

When you are the one asking for help to things you don't know sometimes you gotta kill people with kindness. I see many folks here go out of their way to help when they get treated with decency.

    Walbro HD199 Fix

Scott, you have given up something you have put great time in to. You have paid close attention to detail in differences to the replacement parts that many would have missed. I am sure there are many here that appreciate you sharing something you did not have to. Don't let one overly proud...

    Walbro HD199 Fix

    Fell into a free 181SE

You should still be able to get rings for it. contact "watsonr", he's a site sponsor and deals with caber rings, should be able to fix you up, or contact a local dealer. Its most likely a size used in other saws as well

my new chainsaw project. another free saw.

That is your oiler outlet. If you can find the workshop manual it tells you how to go about replacing the oiler line, its pretty straight forward. If you do some research here on the Poulan Micro XXV there are some good threads. Look for "modifiedmark" threads, he's done a very good one on...

    Husqvarna 44 Rancher

You could have used the double nut approach so you wouldn't destroy the threads on the studs. Just a thought
