    How to replace bar tip

I’ve never had this happen in 40 years of running a saw. My bar got pinched in such a way that the nose sprocket will not break loose. It is a Tsumura. I have no idea how to replace it. Please give me instructions and a source for a new nose sprocket. Thanks.

    How would you fell this?

If it was me cutting I’d do the stems separately. Rip down the crotch and fell each stem in the direction it’s leaning.

    Red Oak- Dust!

This might be a chain sharpening question. Cutting this old red oak has me confounded. My experience when cutting harder wood will give less cohesive chips as opposed to soft wood with a sharp chain. But I can’t understand why I get so much saw dust in big rounds, ones larger than a 20” bar...

First Post: shopping for a new saw.

Are any of those big logs salvageable? If you know or can find a logger you might come out with a little money and have those big trunks removed.

    Stihl 360 brush-cutter experience?

I have the husqvarna harness. I don’t know about others but one feature has saved my bacon a few times which is its quick release. I try to observe where the yellow jacket nests are but sometimes I’m not very successful.

    Stihl 360 brush-cutter experience?

That bear was actually in my dads front yard in Sorrento Florida. He took the pic.

    Stihl 360 brush-cutter experience?

Ditto for the 12” tri-blade. It’s mostly what I use. I avoid using string because the machine I run pulverizes and covers you in plant matter. And if you are in poison oak…

Trying to decide whether or not to cut branch overhanging house

Please forgive my COVID brain but where you have a limb coming from the trunk or where limbs come off a main branch and the branches/limbs grow around the bark at their junction. It encapsulates that bark and creates a weak spot.

Trying to decide whether or not to cut branch overhanging house

Looks like included bark on those limbs. You should have them removed. I have a very large red/pin oak that has dropped two enormous limbs the past few years. They were not dead.

    Tree Damage From Crop Spraying

I wouldn’t worry about it. They’ll bounce back.

    Tree ID Please

    Thank you.

    Tree ID Please

This is very aggressive. The trees have smooth bark. The seeds are lobed like a maple but will be several of them in a single row. First glance at them sprouting from the ground made think it was poison oak.

    Popular tree

Put the saw to it and drop it. Then call a mobile saw mill to cut your wood. That wood makes good furniture.

Problem with grass in the garden

If I turn my ground in the fall and disk in the spring I have less grass. Regardless, a hoe is your friend and takes a lot of work, daily. Once grass has set up it may take a few seasons of hoeing unless you spray.

Looking for equipment advice for felling larger trees

From a wimpy’s opinion, if the tree will fall on it’s own in the direction of its lean then leave sleeping dogs lie. If you you must fell it then do so in the direction of its lean. With dead rotten trees the tops or big limbs like to break out and come back at you.

    Best less than 50cc saw

Have no idea what you are talking about. I am not looking for 50cc. I’m looking for “less than 50cc “. Is it because I asked the question about the echo model?

    Best less than 50cc saw

Thinking of echo cs361p with a 14” bar. Anyone have experience with those?

    Best less than 50cc saw

I’m looking for a replacement saw for my father in law. He’s retiring his 028 super and needs something considerably lighter. Prefer professional saws. I thought of MS241 and noticed is no longer offered. So thinking of echo or husqvarna, 16” bar, micro chain, light, dependable, easy to start...
