    Plasma cutter recommendation

I'm very happy with my Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 60i. I don't use it often but when I have a project that I need it for, it works great

How much Wood do you Burn a Week in Cold Weather?

I'll jump in on this one. In the really cold (-20F) windy (30-40mph) weather like we just got through, I can burn through just over 1 cord a week. That is split between two stoves though. Just the house, maybe 1/3 cord. The shop is a wood hungry beast just to keep it above freezing in those...

    Burning conifers

To preface this reply, I live in West Central Minnesota. We have plenty of hardwood variety of trees to choose from. I own a tree service and often end up with less desirable types of wood to burn myself. I often choose the softwood species for their quick drying and fast, easy lighting. I...

Flux capacitor - $150 (Jamestown) Flux capacitor out of a mid 80s delorion. Bought as a project but wont work in my Chevy S-10 and I just dont have time to deal with it. Was told it worked from the guy I bought it from, but no guarantees. I am firm on price, even if doesn't work its complete...

Post pictures of your woodpile/splitting area

Most of that looks like willow to me. Wouldn't surprise me if there was Cottonwood in there too though. Hopefully the selection gets better as you dig deeper

Why Do You Use A Conveyor?

It's different for everyone. Certain species of my wood does grow some mushrooms at some point over the year but it's always dry when the burning season hits. Most of the wood I cut and split was green when cut but sits in log form for a year or so before it's processed

Why Do You Use A Conveyor?

I don't have a conveyor but could certainly use one. Most people that sell firewood, or just plain burn a lot themselves, don't bother stacking it neatly to dry. I've piled my wood for going on 20 years now and it dries just fine for my use. Honestly the wettest wood is the outside of the pile...

    whadja do today?

You ever had problems with dead pine or spruce starting on fire in the chipper? My old clapped out woodchuck disk chipper lit up twice this year from dead spruce

Help I’m going bar length crazy

2" can make a big difference, just ask a woman ;) I personally run a muffler modded 261C with an 18" with 3/8 chain. I did it for chain size compatibility so I only stock one pitch of bulk chain. It isn't slow by any means but does get a little doggy with an old chain that has been hastily...

this is a better example of an actual barber chaired tree

    Sharpen chain off bar

I second (or third?) this. Although I don't use mine for sharpening the cutters, I can say it works great on filing the rakers down

How much did you get for your wood last season?

I don't sell firewood myself as there is no money at all in it around here. Guys are selling for about $150/cord of dry hardwood delivered. I can't justify spending the time to process it when I make way more taking the trees down. Softwood usually sells between $85-100/cord

    511A Grinder - Improvements / Tweaks?

I did something similar with mine too. I lag bolted a 2x2 to the bottom mounting holes and clamp it in the bench vise

    Cedar wood

Red Cedar burns well. The decorative White Cedar and Arborvitae people plant here is ultra light and burns fast. Not nearly so rot resistant as the Red varieties. I also assume you're talking the invasive Red Cedar that has pretty much taken over all of the southern plains. At least its an easy...
