    Wood Hauler Pics

This coming from a Ford guy. I think the Chevy is a better wood hauler. Removable side boards are very handy for easier side loading. I think the Ford might be a better truck though. The 7.3 Powerstroke is said to be one of the best light truck diesels made. I haven't heard anything spectacular...

    Are you a wood snob?

I am a snob. I have limited time to process and space to store as well so I only take easy splitting high BTU woods. Living in the Northeast, it is easier to be a snob. I try for the highest BTU per man/hour and volume. I leave twisted, knotty stuff in the woods to rot, just not worth the time...

    Pickaroon?

I just bought one direct from Peavey. http://peaveymfg.com/index.html The shipping was reasonable and pretty quick too. You can get them with up to a 72" handle. http://peaveymfg.com/pickeroons.html I bought a 36" Katahdin. I think I want to get a 60" or so one so I can reach all the way...

    Newb, General milling questions

The original owner put 1/4" steel plate over the original lumber. 40 years of trapped moisture has caused the original lumber to rot.

    Newb, General milling questions

How about dimensions. Do you mill green lumber a little big to allow for shrinkage? If so, how much? I know from firewood that logs won't dry and shrink much until they are split.

    Newb, General milling questions

The road is at the bottom of the hill. I'll figure out how or if I can move them. What I really want is some information on milling.

    Newb, General milling questions

Milling it where it is is not really an option. It is on a steep hillside not far from a senior citizen only housing complex. The only thing I could do on site is make it into firewood. I guess that is somewhat of a sin over here in the "Milling & Saw Mills" section. With proper planning, I...

    Newb, General milling questions

Milling novice here. I might have access to a White Oak tree about 24"-30" diameter and about 30' long. It is in the woods on a steep hill off a road near me. If I can get logs down from there and home in usable lengths, I'd like to, with the help of a friend of mine, who owns an Alaskan Mill...

    Lickity Log Splitter, Piqua Ohio

He tells me it was running last summer, but the recoil fell apart. He insists that with the recoil replaced, fresh gas, and cleaned carb it will run. What is a shift valve?
