ok IMHO seeing that you have an 026 with 18" and 16" with .325 and 3/8 I would really look at a bigger saw then the 261, somthing like the 362 with 20" and 3/8

just do not expect too much from it, its new and a better saw in so many ways then your old saw, but it is not designed to be flogged with a 20" bar running 3/8 all day in hard wood, if you can get cheque out of them use some your own cash as well and get a bigger saw, (if you are only going...

261 will come with a 16" bar and .325 chain you could change it to 3/8 but I would not go any longer then 18" bar on that saw,

yeah I saw a few other brands around at good price's, but I got the Dremil 300 kit with flix shaft with about 30 bits, then I got a cutting kit, another 120 peace kit, and right angal bit too And a new 5 inch Makita angel grinder just in case!
  18. Bigdgb

Please help out an Aussie noob with saw choice

there are not many stores that service Makita saws, you can get them from most tool shops that sell Makita but most will have to order them in for you, try online for them, and even fewer stores will have parts for them, Mekita's supplie of parts is slow at the best, most Aussie AS members that...
