    Safety class

My Son has just turned 16 years old. I’d like to find a location that teaches chainsaw safety in the middle Tennessee area. I’d like for us both to take a class like this. I’ve used a chainsaw 30+ years (self taught) but I’m sure this would be a good education for me as well. Does anyone know...

288xp and 394xp need porting. Anyone interested?

I've got a 394 that Randy did for me, even if it's mine it IS badazz. Randy has a YouTube video of it made within the last 2 months. You won't go wrong with Randy aka Mastermind.

    Feast Your Eyes......

Pardon my ignorance but what's the deal with a 346XP? I can only assume its a really good runner?

What is the very best wood stove. Price no consideration

LOL, paying attention to what's in type is always important. I typed at least 2 hours or more, such as a mass power outage from severe weather which could last for days. In 98 we were without power 8 days from an ice storm. If it were just a 1-2 hour issue then no it's not worth any investment...

What is the very best wood stove. Price no consideration

I thought I was quite clear on what I wanted to do, but I'll type it again VERY slowly.... I'd like a wood stove for my basement that would only be used when the power was out more than 2-4 hours. I wouldn't want an integrated 120volt fan as it would be back up when power was non existent. I'd...

What is the very best wood stove. Price no consideration

I've got an OWB that I love, but what I've became curious about is a stove to install in my basement that has a 6" flue. I'd only use it if the power failed which seldom happens long term here. I'd like to know of a quality stove brand to be looking for used such as on eBay or Craigslist. I...

    Temperature differential off & on

So are you guys saying you've tried different settings in order to settle on the 5 degree differential?

    Temperature differential off & on

I've read a good bit about the new EPA OWB that are soon to be here. While their goal is admirable, the chosen path to achieve this is at the very least questionable. This had me thinking about my OWB and the temperature differential between the preset temp and the temp that activates the fan...

    394xp price

If I were you I'd steer clear of that saw, AND please send me the info needed to purchase that saw instead! I'd buy a dozen 394's at that price knowing I'll never wear out the one I have. If you've not gotten the chance to operate a good 394/395 this would be the way to do it.

The JOY of a Masterminded 394

The bar is 28" and the chain is Stihl Brand and IIRC, the RS type.

The JOY of a Masterminded 394

In April of 2012 I had Randy woods port my 394. That was the end of firewood season so I didn't get to use it much until Fall and Winter of 2012-13. Even then it was sporadic as the actual need for a saw that big is limited. I did use it as needed but it wasn't enough to really know what I had...

    I've now had my warning

Just a bit more info to this story. When I took off these jeans I found that my pants pocket also had one side cut out of it. I'll be reminded of this event each time I wear these pants from now on, which is a good thing. It truly amazes me that I was that close to injury. I'm left handed and it...

    I've now had my warning

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree as buying him chaps would be the same as buying him a computer, it'd just gather dust.

    I've now had my warning

Looking at the cut I'd say its a spinning chain cut as its not just sliced open but at least 1/4" wide.

    I've now had my warning

No skin cut but it's quite chilling to think how close I was to that. Of course I'll tell you that safety was always on my mind today as any day I've got a saw in hand. Today I was cutting firewood out of multiple tree tops all together from a wind storm which is where I'm guessing this...

    I've now had my warning

Today I went out with my Dad to get a few downed trees on the farm including a nice white oak. Any of the trees that had good logs my Dad kept and I got the rest for firewood. We were both happy with what we got. Once home this evening I sat down in the recliner with the family. After about 30...

    Burning unseasoned wood

I'm just guessing this is your feeble attempt at humor. Since you've brought this up though I'll enlighten you a bit and try to diffuse your humor. I'd never burn an old tire in my furnace as it burns good enough that an idea like that's unneeded. But now if your cleaning property of trees and...

    Burning unseasoned wood

Thanks guys for all the input. I'm a believer in low moisture wood or I wouldn't have a 2 year supply on hand when Fall arrives each year. But when I stick a few sticks of uncured wood in and 12 hours later there is a noticeable amount of unburned wood left over vs dry wood which normally is...

    Burning unseasoned wood

If you'd care to confirm my use of the word "seasoned" in the dictionary you'd see that I indeed used the word correctly. It's much better to be silent and appear stupid than speak up and remove doubt.
