    Tree removal cost calculator

Ibidtrees.com is up, but honestly needs more investment to work the way i intend it to. I hope to find a new developer sometime this year and make it more user friendly. Thanks for your interest!

    What say you

Loggers ever use a plunge-cut? Would've eliminated any of these problems. But yeah, I would've filled my pants on that one... He might have too...

Huge white oak that needs to come down

White Oak timber is high in Missouri... believe I heard up to $300/mbf a few months ago. But, no mill is going to want it, even if you brought it to them. See previous comments... On another note- The tree looks pretty healthy to me and I would not be concerned over a slight lean. Let it...

ISA Arborist News Quizzes online any one do these ?

Just because they piss me off often... It used to be fairly easy to get post approval credit for tailgate meetings, independent study or different meetings attended around town. I was probably turned down for about 10-15 credits last year because of some bureaucratic crap that they started...

All right pros, how would YOU handle this tree problem.

OK, then tie it up, attach to GRCS and crank it. Then see previous post.

All right pros, how would YOU handle this tree problem.

If the butt is still attached to the large tree, would climb and secure it with a rope and friction device. Cut the bottom in small pieces, relieving the pressure until the branch is hanging only by the rope. then cut the butt and lower slowly, taking off chunks at a time if necessary.

    Is this topping?

Looks like a decent crown reduction per ANSI standard, except for there might be some stubs left past the lateral branch. Hard to tell from the picture. They at least tried to do it right IMO. I wouldn't call it topping either.

    Large Tree Transplanting

If you're planting soft Maples I wouldn't even worry about planting bigger ones- especially if you don't know what you're doing. IF...IF they survive, they are going to experience transplant shock for several years after you dig them. Might as well plant a 2.5-3" Caliper tree and it will be 6"...

    Anybody miss winter yet...?

Me, not even a little! We're just now getting ready for our annual father's day camping trip.. Wish it was summer for 11 months a year.

Need help selecting a weed trimmer....

I bought an echo straight shaft trimmer 11 years ago... I have never: Changed the spark plug, changed the air filter, emptied the gas out at the end of the season or done anything but put new string on it or gas in it. It has always started right up and worked like a champ. Probably one of my...

ISA Arborist News Quizzes online any one do these ?

Congrats...I just got mine done too. It was close this time! I prefer not to give my money directly to ISA if I can help it. I've been doing an annual subscription to http://gibneyce.com/online-seminars-for-municipal-arborists.html for awhile. For $125 ish you can get a year's subscription...

    Firewood vending

Those things look amazing! Sounds like you've got the Texas State Park gig locked up for the time being... Firewood bundles in Missouri State Parks go for $4 each... That would be 2,225 bundles to pay back the machine.. Or about 5 years of continuously filling them back up. Here at home...

Congrats to my guys and the climbers in the MW-TCC

I just have to brag on my guys for a minute....My lead arborist took 1st overall in the MW ISA TCC in Omaha last weekend, and one of our apprentices didn't finish last! (which was his goal) Thanks to the other climbers for the fierce competition and the Midwest ISA for putting on another great...

    Small tree service bidder

To the OP- its probably gonna be rough. Hire someone to help bear the load. Sure it will cut into profits, but what other choice do you have? If you're a growing company, it would be bound to happen anyway, hopefully this will just speed up the inevitable.

Tree Roots-Leave in ground or Excavate?

It depends on what species of tree... On average, a small stump like that probably not more than 8-10 inches. Fill it back in with gravel and minus, after you dig out all the grindings, of course.

    asplundh chipper
