    8 or 10mm friction cord?

Anybody using a 10 mm friction cord on a 12 mm climbing rope? I climb on a 12 mm Hy-Vee from New England. Mostly SRT with a Hitch climber, VT and a RW. I´m using a 8mm friction cord and when the rope get wet or damp, the VT is almost impossible to break. When the rope is dry theres no problem...

Petzl Sequoia vs. Skylotek Kolibri Multislide 2D

Last week I used a Petzl Sequoia saddle when I was taking my certificate for professional tree climber. (There, now I said it :msp_biggrin: ) The sequoia was quite good especially that it was so easy to put on, with the buckle on the leg loops etc. But It was'nt that comfy when you where...

    And the winner is......... Knut?

Tried some different friction hitches; Valdotain tresse, Distel, Swabbish.... But I found that the Knut Hitch was the one that worked best for me. Have any of you tried the Knut hitch, and how do you think it compares to other friction hitches?

    Best thing since sliced bread?

Maybe I've missed out on this one, but I just stumbled over the Petzl ZigZag on Wesspur: Will be introduced in 2013. Whadya think? Could it replace VT/Distel/Knut etc. with a Hitch climber and a RW? Looks good to me. https://wesspur.com/items/asc181.html

    Yo-Yo climbing system = RADS?

I frequently use the set up below for ascending, and then just remove the Petzl ascender and the micro pulley to descend with the GriGri2. Is this set up the same as RADS? Same thing but different names? Would be interesting to know if this is a good system or if I should go for something...

    Fiber glass pole pruner, wobbly....

I just bought a fiber glass pole pruner, 14 feet long (4 meter) and I just tried it and was a bit disappointed that it was so wobbly. It was really hard to put any pressure on the pruning saw because the pole was so "wobbly". Is this just how it is? Should I go for a aluminum pole instead...

    Webbing sling vs. Whoopie

I've just bought a webbing sling to anchor my pulley block when rigging: Any upsides or downsides compared to deadeye sling or a whoopie? Can imagine it's simple to use since you dont have ti re-tie it after every cut?

Lowering with steel carabiner and Munter hitch?

I'm thinking of trying to lowering with a timber hith, steel carabiner and a Munter hitch on the rigging rope. I would lower pieces of 4-5 feet. Would I be OK with that set up or should I go for a lowering device such as the Port a wrap right away? Have any of you used this set up with the...

My first pair of climbing spurs. A total disaster?

Since I'm a newbie in climbing, I bought a pair of the cheapest climbing spurs. I have'nt had the chance to compare these with any other spurs, but I guess I've got what I have paid for. These are really uncomfy. To be totaly honest, they hurt like a son of a..... As you can see, they're a bit...

How to retreive the climbing rope when using SRT?

I'm familiar with DRT, using a cambium saver and a cambium retreiver ball to retain both the climbing rope and the cambium saver. But how do you retreive the climbing line when using the SRT after you have descended to the ground and the line is still "up there"? If you have tied in, lets...
