    First saw poll

I grew up using my dads 630 super. Mine was the 2159. Bought it new '07 and once I found this place, I added 3 more last year.

OK,WHAT IS YOUR MOST DEPENDABLE FIREWOOD SAW?

After letting the 2159 breath and a trim of the limiters, it's a damn strong saw. The 2172 got the muff opened too, but the '59 is my first pick, starts in 3-4 pulls. It was also the first new saw I've bought.

New Huskee 22 ton splitter .....junk compared to the old ones?

I completely agree with u and will add that most hydraulic pumps are designed to run with the engine running at wot. Expect a short service life of the machine. My dads 07 case 430 skidder manual even says to run wot as much as possible.

    Solenoid burnt out last night

I use the same solenoid as u do. Dormeyer 2005-m-1 And when I was looking them up on the internet the other morning one site had 400°f as a maximum operating temp. And I completely agree with u that a person couldn't expect it to last very long in those working conditions.

    looking for good hatchet

I have a 30" or so long steel handled estwing. I use it for splitting up pieces of wood for the fishhouse wood stove. Works great for that! I don't usually get into big enough trees to have to pound in wedges. I only use em for bucking up logs.

    Solenoid burnt out last night

When I first went out this morning I put a 1/2" piece of conduit between the damper and the door to get it heating again. Around 11am the stove was back up to temp, I took my infrared thermometer and took some shots on the door, right behind the door was just over 400°f ,the solenoid mounting...

Stove is brand new this October. All the solenoids are the exact same. Continuous duty 120v 60hz solenoid. Part numbers are exact.

    Solenoid burnt out last night

Back to drawing board... Woke up this morning to a 62° house. Checked stove, damper closed, I'm guessing it burnt out around midnight last night. Still a bunch of wood in the fire box.

    Solenoid burnt out last night

The door isn't insulated and the solenoid is mounted to a bracket on the door. There is a 1"x3"x1/8" piece of steel welded perpendicular to the door and a 3"x4"x1/8" welded to that where the solenoid mounts. My solution was I put four 1/4" washers on each mounting screw. It holds the solenoid...

    Solenoid burnt out last night

Hey fellers. I think I figured out the issue and fixed it. Excessive heat is the only viable reason they burnt out. The solenoid is the same as almost all stove brands such as central boiler, woodmaster ect. It's a 120v continuous duty solenoid. I have a m&j 5000 stove. A guy locally makes em...

    OWB Water temps

Glad I brought this up. The guy I bought mine from never said a word about keeping the return temp above 140°. And I really don't wanna send mine to a early grave!!

How do you carry your firewood tools?

I use a Klein metal tool box with a tray in it. Spare chains go on the bottom. Greaser, scrench, carb driver, wedge, couple extra bar nuts, soft fine bristled paint brush for dusting off gas and oil caps before refilling and a small roll of shop towels... Always handy and ya never know when ya...

It's soooo nice to be heating with wood!

Hell yeah!!! I love knowing I won't see a truck with a 1075 placard number showing up in our driveway this winter. The 500 gallon is full from a summer fill and hoping it won't need a fill for a good year and a half - two years.still use it for the cooking stove and dryer. We keep our house at...
