    Komet Dragonfly Question

bolt problems A warning about the komet dragonfly. Ive mostly heard good things about it, and also liked it when i tried it out myself. However, BIG WARNING about the "replacable front strap"!! It's attached to harness with a bolt on each side. Yesterday when my boyfriend (also a climber)...

    Warning: dragonfly and butterfly harnesses

The komet dragonfly and butterfly harnesses do both have a "new re-designed replacable front strap". That strap is fixed to the harness with a bolt on each side. Yesterday when my boyfriend, who is also a climber, got down for lunch, he noticed that one of the bolt where loose. He gave it...

    Jonesred Iorn Horse

Ive used the iron horse quite a bit. It has its use, but its a bit clumsy, a mini-tractor has proved more efficient. Its very handy for pulling heavy loads of debris though, just put a sling round it and of you go. Its really made for getting logs out of more difficult terrain, woodland etc, and...

    How many TreeLadies out there?

Hi, First gotta say thanx Fiona great tread! I totally agree that to work in a male dominated business you just get on with it. I work with some great guys and most people, both coworkers and clients appreciate that there are some female climbers. A couple of years ago I worked with...

    Clearance cut one-handing

c/s protective sleeve Yes thats true. In the company I work for everybody has to wear the c/s protective sleeves since one of the employees had an accident two years ago. Since then they've prevented injury on at least two occasions. On one of the near accidents the guy cut almost right...

    Why do you climb?

Personally I started climbing to hang out with all the goodlooking boys in this trade ;) :D Maybe more convincing however was I had been bored with the all jobs I'd tried so far. When I came across this business the idea of sitting in the treetops waving an 020 seemed like the ultimate...

Guy falling out of a tree

Thats standard to make an undercut, and then finish off with a cut from above outboard from the stem, to make the limb fall straight. Works better if foliage removed and/or not too high fall, otherwhise the limb starts tipping in the fall.

that's it, i've had it !!! i'm banning cellphones on the jobsite

In my oppinion phones are a necessity. offcourse for emergency situations but also for checking with clients / boss / office if something isnt clear. A few personal calls dont kill anyone, ok so they should be made on breaks. On a busy workday you kinda have to anyway. If its not that busy whats...

    Tree falls on bystander

I can only agree some people just dont care. Especially cyclists have a tendency to sneak past cones undetected I find. I was grounding for my boss, had a coned off area, including signs and tape. This cyclist decided to just sneak trough. Didnt see him till he was already in the dropzone, I...

I done the ten week course this year, have been climbing a couple of years before that. The ten week course is actually a good learning oppurtunity, even for people with years of experience.
