    Comments?

Judging by the animation, I feel I would have used domino falling as well in this instance. It appeared to be much safer than standing under the widow maker to make the cut. Distance is good in my mind. One of course can argue that it was not safer, because this person lost their life. That is...

Great! I'm happy to help. Send me a message or post a link of the updated site on here and I'll run through it again.

    Attention Stump Grinding Outfits

Looks good, a few ideas to take it a bit further: -use bullet points instead of paragraphs -it helps the viewer get through the information faster -and it doesn't look like a big block of text to read Break up the redundancy by adding paragraphs in-between the bullet points/lists when you need...

    Ramming a Stihl pole saw

That's terrifying. I think I'd hit my coworkers before I lifted a finger on my saws.

    Any self-taught climbers?

Haha Jeff was making a comment about how ineffective the blakes has become with newer eye to eye cord, and related it to a decorative knot.

    Any self-taught climbers?

Why all the hate on the monkey fist? It's more effective than the blakes, just harder to tie :dumb:

    Starting out climbing

Read through this thread: http://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/any-self-taught-climbers.293865/ Also, never use Spurs to climb a tree if you are practicing/pruning/or climbing for recreation. The Spurs will leave scars and traumatize the tree. Learn how to ddrt well before you put...

    Any self-taught climbers?

I think everyone should start off with a closed blakes hitch system. Only need one rope, no split tail or eye to eye. You never know when you might need to know how to make a system out of only one rope. Could save you in a pinch.

Insurance for a few jobs a year

Exactly, you don't need insurance until you really need it, and by that times it's too late if you don't have it... I'm going for digital media. I want to make short films and documentaries that encourage people to question their beliefs and break stereotypes. For now I'm doing a lot of...

    Any self-taught climbers?

As a self taught climber (and not a very good one at that) I would recommend learning how to use a chainsaw very well on the ground, and learn how to recreation climb very well, but do not mix the two until you are comfortable and safe with both. During your off time learning how to climb...

Insurance for a few jobs a year

I understood what you meant Griff, no worries there. I asked on here because I felt dirty bidding jobs without insurance. I gave my cousin a call yesterday, who works for State Farm. She said all I need is general liability insurance, and workers comp isn't necessary as a sole propietor (I...

Insurance for a few jobs a year

Hey all, I've been looking at getting insured for general liability and workman's comp for myself. It looks like I will be paying roughly 3-4,000 a year. If I wasn't in college and I did it full time, this would be no problem. I do less than 10 jobs a year solo. In fact within the last 365...

    Husqvarna 550XP Bar

I don't think you want a carving bar.

    First 372xp Muffler Mod

Run the saw in a couple cuts then tighten the screws, they shouldn't come off. Mine only came out because I took the muffler off when I got it, and when I put it back on I didn't tighten it while warm. Yeah, 20" bar. I rarely need to put a 28" bar on it for most trees around here. I've been...

    Endless Loop Climbing System

I didn't mean to imply I was the pioneer of this system, nor that it is new. The intention of this post was to share a "new to me" system that I have enjoyed working with. It is much easier to re-crotch this system after implementing the snap hook, rather than using a prusik.
