Bought a new Poulan Pro 5020 to see what there about

Do you think running a skip tooth chain on this saw would help? I am thinking that 50cc is a small engine for a 3/8 chain on a 20 inch bar. But if you would run a skip chain it would cut slower but require less power. Any thoughts?

    Question on .043 chain

I have a quick question for all. I was given 3 new loops of .043 3/ 3/8 low profile chain. These are 56 drive link chains for a 16 inch bar. So here is the question. I have never used anything other than the .050 kerf chain but I was thinking that I would buy a .043 bar and give the chains a...

    thoughts on 372xp or 575xp

It has been a while but I thought I would add my .02 I have a 575XP and I have been very happy with the saw. I have had mine for almost two years, I got my 575 from Bailey's. I use a 20 inch bar for just about everything however, I do have a 32 inch bar that I have used several times. I was...

    Chainsaw neglect

I am suprised that some people don't take care of anything. I work with people who don't seem to care about anything they own. I can't believe the number of people who don't change the oil in their cars. I work with a guy that only changes the oil in his car once a year. He acts so suprised when...

    Safty Chains Suck

wow this was an old post. Well I did sell the chains on ebay and i made a little money on the deal. I can't believe how slow they cut. I am sure that safety chains cut slower and require more power to use due to added weight. Rob

Reading here has me concerned about my 359.

359 I have run about 50 gallons of gas through my 359 with out a problem. I also use the cheapest 50 to 1 mix that I can buy. Mine is an e-tech model and i have not had a problem. BTW after about 10 tanks of gas the motor really opened up. Rob

Trade a Stihl for a Crapsman

Well i had a chance to use the 55cc Craftsman. The incredible pull system is a joke. I can't see a 55cc saw starting that hard. The saw is heavy for the size of the motor. It have a 95 NK setup with an 18 inch bar. The saw feels cheap compared to my 575xp and the 359. I guess they are OK saws...

New bar and chain for Husky 350

According to the link, the chain just has bumper drive links. They are not all that bad. You should be able to bore cut and do everything that you can with a regular, non-safety chain. If I have a saw that could run .325 I would get the combo. Rob

    16 inch bar on a 575xp

I will put a 16 inch bar on a 575 becasue I got two new Oregon bars for free. If I were to buy two bars that size it would cost 60 dollars. I would be lucky to get 20 dollars if I sell the bars on ebay. I just wanted to know if they will hurt the saw. I also run a 20 inch bar and a 32 inch...

New bar and chain for Husky 350

    16 inch bar on a 575xp

One quick question. I was given two 16inch bars that will fit my 575. I was all ready to make some loops of chain for the saw when my dad said that a small bar like that might let the saw over rev and damage the motor. Is there any truth to this? The saw was tuned by my dealer. I was just on...

    Hollow Trees

I dropped a willow and three mice ran out. Once I cut a maple that was hollow and I found an old metal gas cap. It looked like it was off an old truck. Rob

Trade a Stihl for a Crapsman

I was reading the link about how great the new 40cc Craftsman saws were and it reminded me of a story that I need share. One of guys I work with bought a new Stihl 361 about a year ago. He only used it to cut 2 two truckloads of firewood. I was helping him cut using my 359 so i guess he...

Box stores Ok here is my .02 I am a teacher but that doesn’t always pay the bills. Sometimes I work weekends at my local Home Depot. I work in the lumber yard mostly but I will do what ever I am told. It really helps out because I get a nice discount on everything I buy. I have noticed that...
