Who makes the band saw that bolts to a Chainsaw?

I had and used Ripsaw driven by an 039. Plenty of power. They are a quality piece and work well if tuned and set up properly, but not so hot for turning logs into cants. I eventually sold mine and built my own bandsaw mill. I did use a granberg mill on an 066 prior to that. I ripped the...

Best way to tell a chainsaws stolen?

well you got to be a little smarter than that but basically you don’t invite them in the shop to see everything you got dummy. I won’t deal with a dimwit like you in a parking lot good way to get robbed, car jacked or shot. At least at home I have a 110 lb Doberman to back me up and a 45 in my...

Best way to tell a chainsaws stolen?

The biggest red flag for me is they want to meet somewhere. If their selling from their home, serial number present, that's mostly it along with gut instinct. If you call the police to check the S/N there's not much more you can do, but I never have. I have bought and sold dozens of saws and...

People don't yet take battery operated chainsaws seriously.

Two years ago the USFS had a no chainsaw use rule between the hours of 9:30 to like 6:30 pm due to dry forest conditions. I was pretty sure an electric might keep me cutting during those times with most saws using brushless motors that I remember seeing. So I called the ranger district and...

    Just order a new Supersplit

Here was my solution on my old and painfully slow hydraulic and it worked perfectly-car ramps

Any baby boomers still heat with wood?

61 model. If we’re home, the stove is burning. Non-cat phase 2 certified Dovre’ heats the house while we’re awake. Jotul 602B I bought from a guy that said his mom used to make tortillas on the cook plate in Mexico when he was a kid. No picture at the moment. I heat my 650sf un-insulated...

Welding bars together to make them longer

I had a damaged bar tip where the sprocket nose joins and rivets to the bar on one of my 32’s that I welded. Worked fine never had a problem. If you have two bars lay them on top of each other and slide them apart to where you think you want to cut them and note the widths at that point...

    Splitters

I had a Northern Tool splitter from around 2008 till last year. The first thing I did was replace all the plastic fittings with brass. Never had a problem with it. The 2 way wedge was a little faster than a typical splitter because the retract cycle is largely eliminated. It would split...

    How many SuperSplit owners?

I bought the SS J model about 2 months ago. It's an electric because I always split in one place. We don't have much hardwood out here in New Mexico, but I like burning pine anyways or juniper. Pine can have some big knots, but Conner at SS thought the J would handle them fine, and it does...

Questions about installing a wood stove

There should be metal tags on the back of the units that might say what they are.

    first wood stove for garage

I have a Jotul 602B box stove in my shop I dropped 175.00 for from a Mexican. It was all rusted and I refurbished/painted. It heats 650 un-insulated sq ft no problem. I have it raised to about 24” to the bottom of the stove mouth from the floor, but even that won’t protect you if you get...

    Home made fire starter sticks

I collect splitter trash as I am splitting wood. I keep a bucket at my feet and throw in chips as I go. I mainly burn pine and fir so I get lots of knots to which are loaded with pitch.

    Thinking of a new splitter

Eastonmade is worth a look for a hydraulic. I just received my new Super Split electric two weeks ago and happy. If I need a log lift down the road I’ll design and build one for it.

    Stihl midweight recommendation

Have you thought about putting a short bar on the 026? I have a 192T that I can hold and cut with one hand, but it won’t hold a candle to a good running 026. If you can find an MS200T in nice shape I think you would b happy with that
