Chimney cleaning Kit.. You must have if you are old than 50...👍👍

I've been using what I call a weedwhacker head bottom up clean out system for two seasons for the same reason, can't climb the rooftop situation. My stove is ideally vented through a pipe to a tee with an opening so the stuff drops down into a plastic bag. Here's the only draw back, the cap...

    Another Craftsman 3.7 thread...

Look on eBay. I have a bunch of bars from that era but not that one.

    Sachs Dolmar 119 woes...

Greetings wavs21, as you can see, this issue was a very long time ago. I do know I have the same saw in a pile of other old machines that have not been used in at least fifteen years. My recollection was I moved on to another saw at the time... a Husky which was a little bigger for a 24" bar...

    Aftermarket chains

You might think about what you're using the chains on... like hardwoods? Do you get in the dirt, and most importantly how you maintain the chain, bar and sprocket health. Like when do you stop cutting and sharpen the chain and clean the crap out of the bar groove. I mean if you don't stop...

Drive sprocket wear. How long should one last?

I always treated the bar chain and sprocket as a unit in which all needed to work at a level that meant I was cutting effectively each time the chain rotated one time around the bar. That maintenance was important. Always start with a clean bar with a sharp chain adjusted not too tight but...

    Stihl 026 question.

It takes more pulls that way and the saw smells strong of gas.

    Stihl 026 question.

I bought a used 026 off eBay about 15 years ago. It had all new fuel parts replaced and took a dozen pulls to get it primed. Then ran great. Now that my shoulders and back are shot I've surrendered to removing the air filter and pouring a little fuel down the carb. It fires right up and I...

Ms170 hard to start. Choke doesn't fully close

This is no help but another option. I bought a used 026 with a new carb off Ebay around 15-20 years ago. I was much younger and could start it after about 12 full choke pulls. It would then start first pull after it warmed up. After my second back surgery four years ago I needed less choke...

16 yo kid inside a mill

I hate to be so negative but, in the bigger picture, perhaps if more young people worked in factories and not on the mean streets where automatic weapons are easily obtained they'd have a better shot a longer, healthier and happier life. If I turn on the local news (Philly), I occasionally see...

any suggestions for a chimney liner?

I just found this 14 year old thread I started. Well I am reporting back on the chimney liner. It's still in operation without any holes or leaks. I never put any insulation around the 6" flex pipe. After all these years (I used it every year as a full time burner), I cleaned the chimney...

Using Drain Snake on 6" Flex Chimney Pipe

How far up are you pushing this cleaning head? It does look pretty interesting. Since I already have the snake, mailman just dropped it off (thx ebay). I can fashion some of this weed whacker line to the top of the snake. It's a little thicker at the end to keep a clamp from sliding up or...

Using Drain Snake on 6" Flex Chimney Pipe

At 69 with 3 back surgeries and arthritic hips climbing to the top of the chimney for cleanout is no longer a smart thing to do. My chimney is a masonry circa 1850 model with a 6" stainless alloy flexible liner. There is a cap with a screen that is open pretty wide at the top. It is about 24...

    Craftsman 3.7/18 chainsaw

I've also learned it's easier to buy the cheap knock off carbs than rebuild the originals. I think I paid less than $20 for the whole fuel package (carb & line w/filter) and new air filter for an old 026. It's worked fine for a year now. It came from a USA seller off Ebay shipping included...

    Craftsman 3.7/18 chainsaw

Are you choking it when cold engine? I've used gas additives like "Seafoam" in both 2&4 stroke engines to help clean out fuel tanks that sit in out buildings over the winter. My saws, mowers, tractors & motorcycles have all liked the "Drygas" type additives as well as Stabil. Before Stabil...

question: 272xp fuel tank vent ?

First thank you for reading... I believe I have a fuel tank venting problem. About half tank into running, stops getting fuel. Crack the cap, let it sit a couple minutes, choke a little and she'll run most of second half the tank. I located the vent, tried blowing through it (into the...

Would you trust this man to build you a chain??

Forgot to ask Flatpikr... how do like that Dolmar 5100s? Been thinking about trying one. Any comments appreciated. woo

Would you trust this man to build you a chain??

I'm not a proponent of chinsey workmanship, just got to wondering what if the chain did break? Also, that there are a ton of risks in cutting down and then up trees. And overall maintenance such as a clean bar and sharp chain are just as important as obvious things like ugly but probably...

Would you trust this man to build you a chain??

Okay, I can't help it... I've had some chains jump the bar before but never break. I'm sittin here tryin to figure out the worst case scenario if it does. If it's in the wood it's not going anywhere. If your revving it I guess it could end up against a body part below the saw. Doubt it...

    026 sprocket rim question

I didn't say the teeth were "too short". Just a lil off and sharp. Cut well blocking some old maple and some small limbs for fire starters. That is until it hit the nails grown over from an old treestand.
