Can you pull the muffler and get some pics of the piston and cylinder?

    Stihl ms 170 hard starting

I had that problem with my 180. You can bend the choke linkage a little so it will engage better. If you bend it too far, it won't stay in the choke position. A little trial and error and it wasn't a tough fix.

    MS180 fun

    Well that's a big facepalm.

Yours is cleaner than mine. Good old saws if you can keep a good coil on them.

Is it on the sticker or does it just say that on the tag? My cs-8000 says cs-8000p on the tag but I've never heard one called that. Probably just means pro construction?

    Chainsaw Purchase

+1 vote for the Echo. Out of the two mentioned in the original post though, I'd take the husky. I haven't used either but keep hearing all the time about 291s burning up.

Looking forward to your comparison tests! I'd be interested to see how it compares to the others fresh out of the box and then after some run time to see how much it wakes up after a few tanks. I've been pleased with my 590.

    Could this be ash?

It was in a very swampy area of the yard, so that could be.

    Could this be ash?

Definitely wasn't catalpa, I'm convinced it's either walnut or ash. I live on 1.2 acres on the edge of a small town and have a dozen other walnut trees and no other ash (or catalpa), which is why I assumed it was walnut. We've lived here 5 years, and it was standing dead the second year so I...

    Could this be ash?

Also the block with the hammer in it was just a few feet from this one, I dropped them the same day. I still have about a 5ft log from that tree, I'm try to get pics of it first of the week for comparison. Do ash trees grow that tall? I was always told they branch out lower and won't grow a...

    Could this be ash?

Definitely not oak, we don't have any oak trees on there property. Several other walnut trees, so I assumed it to be walnut.

    Could this be ash?

I thought it was black walnut, as I have several other black walnut trees and it was taller than most ash. Cut the tree down 2 years ago and should have identified it then but didn't. Milled it a month or so ago and now a friend is telling me he thinks it's ash.

    Changing from d176 to d009

Probably true, which is another reason to buy long bars in a mount that will fit the larger husky saws if/when I decide to get a larger saw.

CS-8000. I can't remember exactly where the adjuster is, I'll have to check. I think it had a good amount of adjustment left.

    Changing from d176 to d009

That's my assessment too. I got a good deal on the d009 32", and finding anything over 24" in d176 is pretty hit and miss. I haven't seen any d176 for sale longer than 36" anywhere I've looked. Does anyone even make any?

    Changing from d176 to d009

The first adapter I made with recoil spring I had a hard time with. The second one I heated it up with a torch and it was a cake walk.

    50cc saws

I'd like to find a clean 5000, I have a cs-4600 and I love it. Closest thing I have to 50cc is an 032, and that thing is a tank. I generally overlook the 50cc class, my lineup goes 45/60/80cc.

    Oh you definitely suck.

    Echo CS-450 Chainsaw Test Drive

Oh man! That's awful! I love my old 4600. It's actually my dad's, he bought it new, but he doesn't use it anymore so it found its way to my garage.
