How long does this tree have???

In some situations I agree trees have great value, like if the home is to be sold, but this one seems to be more of a liability, if it were a healthy tree except for some dead limbs then it may have value, but this tree is ugly and damaged. not 1 of 100 people would see any asset here. If...

How long does this tree have???

Does a swamp white oak have a completely different leaf shape from a regular white oak???? Have it removed. If you can clean up the mess it will save you some money, a little work in the tree and the rest can be put on the ground. If you can deal with the mess and fix your yard it should be...

1999 272xp Husky, & Hello from another newbee.

Find a Stihl Dealer, and get a chain there, pr the appropriate semi chisel Oregon chain from most other saw shops. Oregon bars will fit most any saw they have the correct mounting slot for, and they are what husqvarna puts there name on. just make sure the chain guage is correct and its go the...

    Large fallen tree options

Lots of work there, you will save yourself some trouble if you just let someone have the biggest part for firewood and then try to find someone who can use the log to get it out of your yard.

    Funny

Why didn't he just ask if you needed labor, if hes that in need. I would rather have the job, but if I got really short on work the first thing I am doing is calling too see if anyone is super busy and needs another man.

What bar and chain for Husky 562xp

3/8 .050 is standard chain, and plenty strong for any stock saw in 20" range. A 24 will be slightly out of balance, but if your cutting +20" wood a large part of the time it will make things a bit easier on you.

Are These Guys Good Or Lucky?

Dramatic I think, and good. He checked his angle a few times and made sure he was happy with the wind......holding wood. He wedged until the tree was on his side of the stump and then continued to cut. Looked pretty planned out to me.

    Spur Climbing

Ha Ha, Yes that climbing technique is correct. I have read somewhere about wrapping a tree with a lanyard, but I too, feel like its a bad call. It would tighten you up, in most cases because you don't have that much extra lanyard, and would slow your descent in an emergency. If you had a...

    Husky 346 XP options

agreed, a 16" bar on a 346, can be touched up in the field in about 8 minutes or so. In the shop with a guide in 15 maybe. Keep an extra chain and you should be good to go all day if you touch up at ever other oil/ fuel fill up. You should be letting the saw cool to do this a little while...

    Burning painted wood

I hope you will not have your child in the house( if you have one) this winter while he's burning lead paint. Hes being a cheap ass and trying to get out of hauling it to the dump.............. Now. Personal note. Quit trying to tell your FIL what to do or not do, they don't like that...

    Husky 346 XP options

If you aren't happy with the cutting speed of a 346, then your not right, sharpen the chain more often, get a 16" bar. quit cutting dirt and rocks.....................don't stretch and try cutting with the tip just because you cant reach something. Work your way too it. 346's are small but...

Buried Tree Trunks & Damaged Roots

i know this is an answered question, but I can add, that White Oaks, (looks like your trees) are very easily stressed with grading around the tree. I agree the tree with damaged roots may make it, but in 10 years its still had stress at the base and that tree will grow tallllllll. In the...

    Please help identify husqvarna saw

Pictures, but sounds like you bought an se. I am not entirely sure the 266 was made in an xp, as the 268xp was there and then the 272xp. If you post saw questions in the chainsaw sub forum, then chainsaw nuts will jump all over them.

    Forest Ranger killed

He was pushing a fallen tree with a dozer, I don't think he had any help at the time, the tree, I assume under great pressure, popped up over the blade and landed in his lap, he had a large puncture, but died from internal bleeding as when the ambulance got there there was little they could do...

cutting 50" trunk with a 27" bar question

I guess the concern we have is that you aren't sure whats going on. I say this, because low pro chains on a large saw makes no sense, nor does letting kick back be an issue. It happens, you realize what you did wrong, correct the action and keep going. Its the saws way of staying "check"...

cutting 50" trunk with a 27" bar question

Experiance, read a saw instruction manual or a book on tree felling/ climbing. You mean your climbing a tree with a saw and asking this question? That's a little concerning, but OK.....What saw are you running a 27" bar on?
