    thoughts on Tanaka TBC-340PFD brushcutter?

340pf I have this one, it's bigger brother (430) and two others which are larger. The 340 is well made, good on fuel, powerful, and quiet. It will serve your purpose well, unless the brush is thick. Then, it will do the job but not as quickly as a larger model.

    Aargh! Husky 359 piston/cylinder

+1 While about as popular on AS as the MS290, the 359 has been a dependable saw for my use.

Which Company REALLY Manufactures Their Own Synthetic Oil?

Shelf Life - I agree I used close to 10 gallons of MX2T this year alone, which was over five years old. Worked fine. If I could find it again at the price I purchased, I would buy more:)

    dolmar synthetic oil

Let's be correct, I agree! Please let me know where Amsoil complied with JASO M345 standards. I could not find it on their list of tested oils. JASO test procedures; http://www.jalos.or.jp/onfile/pdf/2T_EV0412.pdf And it is not on the list of approved oils...

    Husky 359 power issues

359 Two advantages! 1. I agree with the one point of easily modded muffler and/or porting. 2. The purchase of every 359 gives Sawtroll indigestion.
