    Want to Sell McCulloch Collection

Yep a good old machine. Hate to sell it but I am 75 years old with prostate cancer. My chain saw days are over! Lost a lot of muscle mass and cannot start the big girls anymore even with the compression release.

What are these black spots on my wood under the glue?

I will take a pic and post. Put in on thin and it will dry clear. I put 3 or 4 coats on then let the slabs sit in a dry shed for a year or so.

What are these black spots on my wood under the glue?

For premium wood, like the gunstock blanks I worked with at one time, slow gentle air drying is the key. I have 18 big Fir slabs on stickers now for air drying. Ends sealed with Anchor Seal. In a dry shed and arranged for good air circulation. I will take a look at the wood each month...

What are these black spots on my wood under the glue?

That is mold, you are trapping moisture beneath the glue. Water has to escape!!! Use Anchor Seal End sealer. Put on the ends of the slabs, not on the surface. You want the moisture to escape through the surface and not through the ends. I would sand all that glue off and start over by...

    Big Cherry Stump: Decisions Decisions

Dropped most of the tree this summer. Left the main stump and first forks. Tree is dead but the wood is sound and dry. Have not cut it down yet. Thinking about what to use it for. Maybe some rounds at base then mill the remainder for a couple of forked slabs. Would be an interesting low...

Stihl 075 mill build that’s very simple

My 075AV, making firewood rounds. Log about 32 inches in diameter. 36 inch bar, 404x.063 chain, full chisel, skip, Stihl chain. Come a long at a tailhold tree. This old boy is at least 60 years old, my dad had it. Other end of chain after I rolled the log. A slip hook at the log...

Stihl 075 mill build that’s very simple

Three of the best things I bought last year: Chain Breaker Rivett Spinner Super Jolly grinder. You can order extra presets from Archer for your chain, handy if you have to do a chain repair or two.

Stihl 075 mill build that’s very simple

Yea chains, come a longs and such are handy. I am sawing up a 34 inch diameter fir about 20 feet long today for firewood. It was cut off and dropped 25 feet up the tree and plowed into the dirt, bad news for chains. So I will cut through 2/3 of the diameter then roll the log with a come a...

Sold Vintage IEL Pioneer 'RA' chainsaw - the '57 Chevy of classic saws!

If I did not have two I would buy yours. Nice start for a full rebuild. Looking forward to getting one running and see how it compares to my 795L McCulloch. Nearly the same displacement. I even have two NOS top covers.
