    MS 200 Running Rough

Opened up the L screw just a bit. Also flipped the winter/summer tab. Not sure how important that is. Cut for about 25 minutes. It ran fine. Hope that gets it. We'll see. Thanks again.

    MS 200 Running Rough

No. I didn't have any tools with me. Was clearing a fence line after work, used an axe on some little stuff, then knocked off for the night. Will give it a try. Thanks.

    MS 200 Running Rough

I have a Stihl MS200 - 15-20 tanks of gas old. On Sunday it started right up and ran great. Yesterday afternoon, filled it up with gas, started it up, ran fine for 4 or 5 minutes, then it started acting balky. Died a couple of times. Would run if I babied it. Seemed like there was a flat spot in...

    Woodshed Design

I have a question about woodshed design. When I built a lean-to specifically for storing wood I made it very open, with no walls but enough roof to keep off rain and blowing snow. My second string woodshed lean-to was built tight with walls and doors. I pulled off one door but kept the...

Wood Heat: Stoves, Percentage of Heating, Firewood

We heat with wood about 90% of the time. 90 year old Minnesota farm house. Vermont Castings stove. 4-5 cords per year. Good wood-red elm, red and burr oak, hickory(we are getting lots of die-off the last few years). I split it by hand. We have forced air-oil heat and use it in the warm...

    Thoughts on burning sycamore

I'm a little dubious about that Nebraska chart, at least the splitting part. I think box elder splits easy- not that I want any of it anyway. It is a weed around here. Bitternut hickory splits very easily. Red elm splits medium at best, but it is worth the effort.

Elm / Sweet gum any good to split / burn

Here in Southern Minnesota, elm has been widely available for 30 years because of Dutch Elm disease. First thing I do when looking at an elm is get a chunk and try splitting it. Then I decide how much effort to put into it. Red elm(Slippery or Rock Elm) is primo firewood. It can sit in the...

    MS 360 Question

Oops. I think I meant 372. I'm bad with numbers. You ought to see me ordering chain. All I know is whatever its model number, it had plenty o'power.

    MS 360 Question

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I've got a few more questions, but I'll be a good citizen and make sure I continue to read some of the old discussions before I become a pest. My experience with this saw was like that guy who was disapointed with a new 361. I thought the new $500 saw would...

    MS 360 Question

I've been reading stuff on ArboristSite for two months. This is my first post. I've been running a MS360 for a couple of years now - it replaced a trusty Jonsered 621. Saw's been running great and has cut approx. 25 cords of firewood here in Minnesota. My buddy just bought a tach; we checked...
