So tell me how you really feel about the 550xp.

So could we help speed up the learning process on AS? I want to get my 550 ported but would like to wait until it is known how to release its potential. If a builder would volunteer I'd be willing to put up some $, along with others on here, to buy them 4 or 5 cylinders to see what works. We...

    Saw-King's Stihl 026 MM vid

Yep. She's rubbery. Must be the effects of E15 softening up the metal exhaust.

So tell me how you really feel about the 550xp.

Fantastic saw. Runs very strong stock and I can't wait to mm here in the next week or two. No starting issues at all using the advice given on AS (high idle hot starts).

I used to get about 3 cords per year for myself and a buddy and our circle of firewood friends has grown over time and we've started earlier each year and increased our haul...

Make my own wood burning fireplace grate

I bet your 10-1 advantage is accurate. It's not for primary (whole house) heating....only for the 15x30' room the fireplace is in. Thanks.

Make my own wood burning fireplace grate

Thanks H-Ranch. Bummer it doesn't increase heating that much. I'm going to change from the design you have by changing to rectangular tubing for increased surface area for heat transfer and, with what you said, probably a closed single loop that carries the fresh air from the manifold to the top...

Make my own wood burning fireplace grate

I have a masonry fireplace and I'm looking to get more of the fire heat into my family room. I don't like the idea of a large insert which would surely work but at a significant cost. In searching around the web the heater grates with a blower motor seem like the option I prefer. The blower...
