    Cistom Splitter Build.

I don't think coating the interior of hydraulic tanks is a good idea, any of that coating comes off and it goes through your tight clearance valves. I have repurposed a pile of hydraulic tanks and they are never rusty inside, because they are sloshing with oil and if sized correctly get warm...

    Cyclopsided 7.5hp >>Electric<< Homebrewed Woodsplitter

Agreed, if you are going to lop off someone's fingers it should be your own.

    Cyclopsided 7.5hp >>Electric<< Homebrewed Woodsplitter

Yes I didn't want the lift banging the ground, jarring the splitter and sending a rolling a log over a kid's fingers.....or worse. He has been renting a Barrato splitter from the rental yard. Good splitter but has too much consumer safety stuff on it. Has to use it in vertical mode because it...

    Cyclopsided 7.5hp >>Electric<< Homebrewed Woodsplitter

Correction, it is a 28gpm pump, not what I originally wrote. Extend and retract at 1st stage volume is 14 seconds. Extend in 2nd stage mode is 30 seconds, Retract in 1st stage mode is 6 seconds.

    Cyclopsided 7.5hp >>Electric<< Homebrewed Woodsplitter

Thanks fellas for the compliments!! Single Phase. It uses about 30 amps, depending on the voltage. Not sure exactly what Bro's voltage is at his home. He is putting in a 50 amp outlet right at his exterior breaker box. I have a stainless steel 'Hoffman" type enclosure that I will be putting in...

    Cyclopsided 7.5hp >>Electric<< Homebrewed Woodsplitter

I recently built my Bro a woodsplitter, we wanted electric for the power, reliability, no gas, no gas fumes, less noise etc. It pretty much is going to be stationary in his yard, he has tree services bring him the big wood for free rather than them hauling it to the landfill and getting charged...

Anyone ever rebuild a Haldex 2 stage pump?

Good news, Concentric sent a parts schematic. Better news, the schematic shows only o rings and contorted o rings for seals. None of that mystery gasket stuff. Best news, I torn it down and the factory let one of those contorted o rings out of the groove when they assembled it. Smashed a...

Anyone ever rebuild a Haldex 2 stage pump?

LOL, I am not sure why some of my text is green. Concentric/Haldex is made in the USA and used to be Haldex/Barnes, before that they used to be John A Barnes. The Northern Rep said that they had a note that Concentric does not accept calls from customers. I sent an email to them inquiring...

Anyone ever rebuild a Haldex 2 stage pump?

You must be thinking of Chinese pumps. $370 https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200321057_200321057 $536 https://www.zoro.com/concentric-gear-pump-2-stage-3600-rpm-22-gpm-1080085/i/G1029296/ $357 http://www.splitez.com/log_splitter_pumps.html And no I didn't pay anywhere near...

Anyone ever rebuild a Haldex 2 stage pump?

LOL,,, I haven't even checked to see if the 4 bolts are tight, let alone tore it down or determined the problem and it is already time to throw probably the most expensive 2 stage log splitter pump, $370 in the scrap pile. Some internal parts are available from Northern, so obviously those pumps...

Anyone ever rebuild a Haldex 2 stage pump?

Well, short version of a long story I bought a 'new' w/o box Haldex 22gpm pump off Ebay for a great price. It looked new but it had clearly been installed before. Seller buys and sells distressed merchandise and didn't know any of the history about the pump, but did knock a large chunk off the...

    Electric powered lag splitter

I built a electric log splitter. Used a 13gpm 2 stage pump and a 5hp 'special' compressor motor, 3450 rpm that I believe is closer to 4.5 hp. Anyway, more than enough power and speed for a 4" ram.

Want to Sell NEW Monster Woodsplitter Cylinder 6"x30"

I have a brand new Prince Gladiator 3000 psi 6x30 hydraulic cylinder. I bought 2 for a couple of monster wood splitters and now only need one. This is where the came from...

    Cheap Homemade woodsplitter plans/ideas/ pics?

I built this from scrapyard salvage 5hp electric motor 3400rpm, 4.5x28 ram (I think off a CAT?), 13 gpm pump, airport luggage mule tires, hubs, spindles. Solid rubber tires, won't be getting a flat. Reservoir is a piece of tube steel. I wanted it narrow enough to roll through a 3 foot...

    Stihl Chainsaw bearings question

Did you compare the new bearings to the old? On my 031 project,it seems they used at least 4 different bearings over the years for the PTO side crank bearing. 2 interchange and 2 don't.

Chainsaw Engine to run Log Splitter pump hydraulic pump??

I have built a few log splitters, shop presses, tubing bender, dump trailers etc..... I don't think a chainsaw engine would work well. A decent size splitter 4-5" bore requires 8hp or more unless you want a very pokey splitter. My homebrewed electric 5hp (more or less equvent to 12 plus of gas...

    Stihl Mystery bearing??

Yes I know what the purpose of the snap ring is for. And yes I know that purpose can be done by other methods like a having a shoulder on the bearing, but that isn't the question. The question is what does 9523 003 4340 fit, and why does that 031 tech bulletin not apply to any of the 031s I...

    Stihl Mystery bearing??

The whole thing is weird. That tech bulletin is dated march 1973, and the 031 was introduced in 1971. Maybe the later saws abandoned the snap ring on the bearing race, shoulder on the bearing race for a snap ring in the case? All the bearings I took out of the 3-4 donors looked like Vince's...

    Stihl Mystery bearing??

Yes you are but it adds to the mystery. From that tech bulletin.... The hitherto existing ball bearing with oil seal 9523 003 4240 on the sprocket side ·of the crankshaft will not be supplied as spare part any longer. Also the retaining ring 9459 620 2600 which has been used for fixation of the...

    Stihl Mystery bearing??

"Shure its not INA?? That is an old german bearing factory. Stihl used them back in the 60s and 70s. It is now part of FAG wich is under the Schaeffler Group." The bearing is a FAG but it is NLA (No Longer Available from Stihl) and so isn't in their system at all.
