    Stump grinding question

This is the part of the business that sucks. This is where you get to wear holes in your shoes. You need to get to a rural area, look for the stumps you can see and bid what you can see from the road. A flyer with your information, pics of jobs, noting your insured, a business card, and a...

Do you split first, then load or load first then split?

GVS my operation is the exact same. Split right into the trailer and haul out. Most of the time your sequence will be dictated by location, equipment available, and number of loads.

How do you carry your firewood tools?

I use a box similar to BrianK, got mine at lowes. has wheels and a handle that slides out. no dividers in it, just a top tray. works well and has held up great, it gets banged around a lot. Only complaint with it is I wish it had larger wheels for when I have to drag it in the woods with me...

Too funny!! Never thought of that, have to agree part of me wants to try that. Def have to make sure that you hook it to the correct drive wheel. My luck it would catch on something and fling the back of the log on the cab of the truck.

First out with the new Poulan Pro!!

I started out with a Poulan 220 years ago. I got the thing from Lowes for 120.00 back then, and they were popular saws. Looking back that saw did really well for what I put it through. I cut at least 120 cords with it over several years. Went through couple of bars and several chains...

anyone else haul wood in a Ford ranger?

Wellsco I'm assuming you found one off of something like craigslist or on the web. If you're looking at something where you where unsure if it fits, the only way to make sure it fits is to take measurements on it. You will want to measure the width of the mounts, and the width of your...

anyone else haul wood in a Ford ranger?

Wellsco I have a 97 Mazda B 2300/Ford Ranger, it has the 2.3 L four-cylinder engine, and is a five speed clutch. I have used it to pull firewood for the last 10 years. Notice that I say pull. I have a homemade trailer that I built that will hold three quarters of a cord when you stack the...
