Online ISA TRAQ renewal class. Have you taken it?

OK, I'm trying to get info on how the exam is administered, after the online class, and when you do your TRAQ report and get it to whomever. If you've taken the online TRAQ renewal class, let me hear from you. I renewed, in person, almost five years ago, and with the lousy info being supplied...

Registered Consulting Arborist: Anyone, in here, gone that route?

How much $$$$ have you sunk into your training, so far?

Registered Consulting Arborist: Anyone, in here, gone that route?

I'm thinking of becoming an RCA. After visiting the site of the ASCA, I have to say I was not that impressed. The lack of clear, concise, online information was frustrating. So, are any of you RCA's? Is that certification useful? Was the training expense worth it? I'm a CA, TRAQ, ISA, so I...

    Pfanner Protos helmet too small?

I always have had trouble finding hats big enough for my head, but the Protos fit perfectly, from the get go. I bought mine when they first came out. Maybe they've gotten smaller. You could try seeing a headhunter, in the depths of a dark South American jungle, and perhaps avail yourself of...

That hole in the underside of the Stihl HT-101 oil tank. Why????

Whoa! Answering my own question: I remember having to clean the oil pump. That hole is where you thread in a bolt into the end of the pump and then wiggle it out of the body of the head and out that hole. OK, but that still is a lousy design. Things could have been done much better.

That hole in the underside of the Stihl HT-101 oil tank. Why????

I don't feel so bad, now, since nobody seems to know the purpose of that hole. Cool, I guess.

That hole in the underside of the Stihl HT-101 oil tank. Why????

OK, let me start off by saying that my company left Stihl behind, for the most part, years ago, and switched to Echo: Far greater reliability, far better starts in very hot conditions, more sensible engineering. That design engineering is why I'm posting this. Time and again, with Stihl...

Having trouble removing clutch cover nut on Stihl 076

This is why I left Stihl behind, for the most part. Total garbage on design for something as simple as removing a clutch. The plastic stop is a joke. It doesn't do a great job and easily falls out of place if you're maneuvering the saw to get a better grip on that thin clockwise release nut...

460 oiler problem. I'm stumped, pun intended.

I remembered that the vent is not inline with the pump. Looks like I'll be getting to the pump to replace the worm gear. Thanks.

460 oiler problem. I'm stumped, pun intended.

The silver disk with the pinhole has oil coming out of it. As best I remember, that is a relief valve. Anyway, I'm not getting oil at the delivery port. Do you have any helpful advice to offer?

460 oiler problem. I'm stumped, pun intended.

OK, my oil isn't getting to my bar. I have changed out oil pumps, before, but this time I have a weird situation: I'm getting lots of oil at the relief valve, it sprays out when full throttle. The delivery port stay dry, however. I've run a wire from the port to as far as it'll go...

Echo CS-355T starter cord intermittently doesn't have resistance on pull.

I've had it for three years. I know it pretty well, but the pawls were a new problem. It's my only climbing saw. It makes me a good income. It's dependable as heck, I just need to clean it on a regular schedule but I'm usually too pooped to mess with it when I roll on home.

Thanks! Dirty, indeed. A little clean-up and a touch of lube---Problem Solved!

Thanks for your input. I'll go check the springs and lube the pawls.

Echo CS-355T starter cord intermittently doesn't have resistance on pull.

Yeah, lots of fun. Almost broke my own jaw, while aloft. I changed out the pawl catcher. Slight improvement, but still having the problem. The pawls look OK. I can rotate the flywheel, counter-clockwise, with resistance, but then it goes resistance-free for about 180 degrees. OK, so the...

have you ever been asked to sign a "RELEASE, INDEMNIFICATION, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT" ?

FWIW, a business "built on trust" is a lawyer's delight since those types of businesses get sued by litigious folks, who prevail, a good deal of the time. As my folks taught me, at only ten years old: Get it in writing, or don't do it! I've been writing contracts, ever since. Over fifty...

have you ever been asked to sign a "RELEASE, INDEMNIFICATION, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT" ?

While you may, in fact, be going through a hassle with a (possibly) litigious HO, the same does not apply on bigger jobs for corporations. On those jobs, I routinely have to fill out those legal forms, and it's no big deal. The bigger bucks come with more paperwork. In the case of this HO...

What? Is this English? Sorry, makes zero sense to me.

What's the best way to check? Sorry if there's a easy, obvious way, just let me know. Thanks!
