Husqvarna 61 experts: Is this natural?

I put a have put covers with chainbrakes on 61s but it has been a while ago. The 61s I still own have the old Swede-o-matic brake with the metal bale. I think a modern brake assembly puts the flag very close to the saw's top handle. The first time I put an inexpensive aftermarket brake assembly...

Jonsered 2152/Husky 353 - hole in oiltank, fix help

I have had success drilling out such a hole and tapping it for a fine-thread pan-head machine screw.

Husqvarna 154 se stalls when brake is actuated.

Greasing the bearing solved all the the problems. When I removed the brake, the clutch bell was easy to turn but not totally spinny free. I removed the clutch (cracking the flywheel air conductor in the process dogonit). The bearing looked and felt free. Using the bearing grease hole in the...

Husqvarna 154 se stalls when brake is actuated.

As soon as I click the brake, my trusty 154 dies. So I am looking for help, suggestions. Maybe the clutch bell is pushed off-center by the brake band? Also, the saw usually requires fast idle setting to restart when warm. Otherwise the saw is easy to start, cuts like crazy and idles well. It is...

Restoring broken recoil on 3450 Poulan

I found another 3450 with the same ailment, but I don't remember what I did. Is the video available anywhere?

Dumb carburetor question, need help please

Even if the mixture screws were set perfectly before the carb rebuild, you will need to retune to know that the mix is right for the new conditions in the carb.

It's shorter on the skirt end. Ring to crown is very similar; pin to crown is close too.

    Nik's Poulan Thread

OK here's the whole pipe dream. If I had a plated piston for a 47mm bore, I could hone the cylinder to fit. The cylinder I have will clean up and I already ordered the replacement piston, but for the cylinders that aren't so good, it's a thought. The husqv 359 piston by the way is just over...

    Nik's Poulan Thread

Look at the similarity between the pistons for the Countervibe 4200 and a Husqv 359. I wish I had measured the 4200 squish before I took it apart. (Anybody know what the typical reading is?) A 47mm ring fits in the 4200 bore with zero clearance, would need a wee bit of filing. The Poulan pin is...

Restoring broken recoil on 3450 Poulan

To save you a little more time, a 17mm hole saw leaves a core that is just shy of 14mm, which fits the 266 pulley. I replaced the 1/4" drill bit at the center of the hole-saw mandrel with a tapered rod to center the saw on the axle without damaging the threaded hole for the pulley-retention...

Restoring broken recoil on 3450 Poulan

It could work but the 262 pulley is smaller in every dimension than the ones for the 266, (and the 268, 272 and 61) which are close to the Poulan in overall height, 38mm, and outside diameter of the hub, 24.5. The ID of the 262 pulley is 12mm, the Poulan ID is 18 and the 266 is 14, so the 266...

Looking back at Arrowheads classic ultimate sleeper post, I re-discovered this: I think this is one of those?

Restoring broken recoil on 3450 Poulan

Good information but not exactly what I am hoping for. With husqv we have the 2 series, 3 series; with poulan there is Countervibe and the later clamshells; but all those for all those Poulan saws with the airbox cover separate from the cowl, do they have a common denominator?

Mark can you tell me if there is a name for the family of saws that includes the 3450?

Restoring broken recoil on 3450 Poulan

Lucky you. I searched high and low with no success before I started looking for a substitute. I don't know but it seemed to me that if I drilled it out to 18mm the plastic remaining inside the metal might be too fragile for the retaining washer

Restoring broken recoil on 3450 Poulan

I have discovered that a Husqvarna 266 starter pulley can be used as a substitute for the pulley on a Poulan 3450 and related saws. All you need to do is turn down the axle spindle on the recoil housing and grind the Husqvarna pulley hub notches about 3mm deeper. I didn't get to give it a...
