    Municiple Ordinances???

Asemaster, I agree that a good woodland management program at a private level is a good thing but I was aiming at the city lot level where if a individual decides to remove 1 or 2 mature trees it would have a effect on folks immediately around them. Whether it be shade or water or simply a...

    Municiple Ordinances???

I would like to verify that this is about urban tree ordinances where 1 individual can strongly impact a communities urban forest, for generations, in a very short time. Not Bob in the back 40.

    Municiple Ordinances???

Lilac, thanks for that link. I believe that ordinance is going to be fine tuned or rewritten and not scrapped altogether. Something along the lines of allowing removal of trees that can be determined a nuisance. Trees that will cause structural damage and the such. Please help keep us updated...

    Municiple Ordinances???

SRT-Tech I understand your feelings. After thinking about this last night, the first random arbicide that I could remember was when Mr.T cut down a bunch of old oak trees at his house in the north burbs of Chicago. POed a bunch of people. For years after that the line clearance crew that I...

City orders tree removal, how to appeal?

Streyken was correct in the first reply (I didnt read it all the way thru) in that you could contact an arborist for a verbal assessment first to determine if you want to persue the issue. Than, if it would be saveable, a written report from a ASCA member.

    Municiple Ordinances???

I am posting this here in homeowners forum as rules like these effect everyone. http://www.denvergov.org/Forestry/Ordinances/PropOrd/tabid/425728/Default.aspx The undelined stuff is new and the stuff crossed out is well, out. Above is a link to Denver Colo. proposed revision of their tree...

    So whadja do today?

Going to town to look at a tree and then get some gas and come home and get the snowmobile out for a few laps. Then down to Rockford Il and go swimming. A bud there has a 20'x40' in ground pool that is outside without a lid. He opened it up on April 1. I talked with him this AM and he cranked up...

City orders tree removal, how to appeal?

WOW. Denver has a aggressive pro tree ordinance coming up for review. In the link they offer a spot to send comments.. so I did and you can too. http://www.denvergov.org/Forestry/HomePage/tabid/387519/Default.aspx This is a link to the Denver Forestry homepage and it seems pretty good...

City orders tree removal, how to appeal?

The best tool for this job is a registered consulting arborist that is a ASCA member. If it is your desire keep the trees alive you will need a written report stating the condition of the trees that includes the amount of decay and the overall health amongst other things. The key here is a...

    rig guy wirestops

OK i'll throw another one out here, a bolt or a j-lag is a solid hunk of metal so that when the tree does start to grow around the metal it could seal off any moisture from entering inside the tree. Cable is wrapped and not solid so moisture and air could run inside the cable to the inside of...

THE STUMP FROM HELL !!!! pics !!!!

I have to agree with NEK VT that the black powder charge wasnt big enough. Start with Gasmans drill holes till you hit dirt and but then fill with black powder. If at first you dont succeed, you then get a bigger hammer.

THE STUMP FROM HELL !!!! pics !!!!

Timber again thanx for making me chuckle all night. Once you do pry this beast from its pit are you going to mount it? It would seem worthy of a permanent place around the fire pit somewhere. I can hear the story already "ya it was the spring of 07 when I started huntin that one......"

Oak pruning and Wisc. DNR date

http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/Forestry/Fh/oakWilt/ This is what the Wisconsin department of natural resources puts out as a info pamphlet concerning oak wilt. Good stuff BUT I have an issue with them placing a date, April 15, as the last day to prune oaks till fall. The reason I dont like this is...

    Help with Evergreen..maybe dumb question

I would continue to raise the lower canopy. Looks like from the photos that 2 or 3 more tiers could be removed. If you remove the whole tree you will have a wonderful view of your neighbors homes from your deck instead of green foliage AND they will be able to watch you on your deck as well. Try...
